The project itself was fun and easy to use. My 3 year old was very excited to make the gummies and do the experiments. However, I should have known by the smell of the mixture before the water was mixed in something was off. Then when the water was added, the smell became awful, like wet dog and stinky feet. We continued putting the mixture into the molds, and my son gagged at one point, a reaction I have never seen him have to ANYTHING. When we got them out of the fridge, they pulled nicely out of the molds with a toothpick, but my son did not want to eat them because of the smell. I assured him the were safe to eat, taking a bit myself. I didn't react to the horror that was in my mouth, not wanting to hurt his feelings after all his "hard work". I swallowed, smiled and he skeptically took a bite. He immediately spit it out and exclaimed "that is not food", and and claimed they were "the most disgusting thing he ever ate". We both started laughing at how bad they were, an I encouraged him to describe the result of his experiment. "Disgusting" and "tastes a horrible sickness" are what i remember him saying. We had a fun time getting his dad and pop (my dad) to try his experiments. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because the "science experiment" was fun, we had tons of laughs, and I still smile thinking of the look on my husband and dad's face after putting the gummies in their mouth. We used some cooking spray to grease the tray(as the instructions say) and a medicine dropper to fill the molds (not included but worked great and more fun to use than a spoon). Fun project, but would not try to eat them. Also, just to be clear, my son eats everything: smoked muscles, lox and capers, brussel sprouts...he has never met a candy he wouldn't eat. So it's not that he is a picky eater.

This was a super easy activity for my niece. Kept her entertained without a huge mess. Great value and helps teach her how to follow instructions. Very picky eater but the taste and texture was good and she loved it.

My 11-year-old ADORES science. Pair it with snacks, and he's in paradise! So, of course, he flipped over this and got into it right away. His review: the gummies were more like Jell-O than traditional gummies. And he followed the instructions exactly. He also used the watermelon flavored one, and he said the flavor was, and I quote, "awful."That said, he's still thinking it over and wants to try some adjustments. He's already decided to swap-out the water for something more flavorful -- like Hawaiian Punch or something, and to use about 3/4ths of the liquid the instructions call for. He's also going to try a different flavor next time to see if the watermelon simply didn't agree with him. While I am saddened to see his initial disappointment with the item, I am encouraged it has him thinking and experimenting -- which is the whole point of the thing! He wants to continue with it, so that says a lot. Could it be better? Certainly. But I'm not unhappy I bought it. Hopefully he'll meet with better luck soon!
