This coffee maker is great. I have considered the pros and cons of buying this coffee maker for at least 5 years. The thing that held me back is the price. I kept asking myself would it really, really make superior coffee. After all I had Wirecutter's second most popular coffee maker for about 8 years and I was happy with it. Sure there were things I didn't like about it, but mostly it produced good coffee. I've had this Mocca Master for about a month now and I'm happy I bought it. Both my husband and I could immediately tell the difference is the coffee. It was smoother, less acidic than our old coffee maker. We used the same coffee as before as well as the same coffee grinder, the same type of grind and the same amount of coffee. Both of us could tell a difference. The cup of coffee just tasted better. Most important to me was that it was less acidic. We bought one with a stainless steel carafe and we put hot water in it the night before so the coffee will brew hot. It does stay hot (if you do this extra step) for hours after you make it in the morning. It isn't for everyone because it doesn't have a way to set it up the night before so you can just push a button in the morning. That isn't a issue for us because we have time to go through the grinding, setting up procedure in the mornings. The inside of the carafe is glass, while our old carafe was stainless steel inside. I like the glass better. It's easy to clean. You just drop some dishwasher powder inside the carafe and pour in boiling water. Let it sit for a while (we let it sit overnight), pour it out, rinse a couple of times and the carafe is clean. My husband says the brew time is shorter than our old coffee maker. I'm not in on that assessment because he brews the coffee before I get up in the morning. I'm not sorry I spent the money on it and I hope to have it for many more years. But I understand the feelings of anyone who has a pause before investing in the coffee maker. If you love good coffee, this is the one that produces the best I've ever had.

I've had so many coffee makers over the years. Most had to be replaced within a couple of years. I was excited to avoid a digital maker! I rarely use all the "features" on them and it's just one more thing to break. This coffee maker is simple, but amazing! I love that they have a 5 year warranty and sell replacement parts. You'll be able to repair this in the future and this will probably be the last coffee maker I ever need. Other brands just expect you to repurchase a new maker when something goes wrong. I'm not a fan of throw away culture. There is just one switch, the off and on and that's it! The coffee this thing makes is amazing! It may seem expensive at first, but knowing it will last forever makes it quite the deal! I'm so glad I made the switch!

I had this machine on my wish list for some time but found it hard to justify spending $349 for a coffee maker. Thankfully, it was offered at a discounted price for Prime Day, and I jumped on it.A few thoughts:Read the "Best Practices" part of the instructions. All of my questions about grind size, water, filter type, and brew volume are answered there. I would strongly recommend grinding your own beans, as the company correctly notes that pre-ground coffee is usually too fine for the best results using this machine. Add a good burr grinder to your order for this if you don't have one. Why spend this much money on a machine like this unless you can take full advantage of its capability? As many other reviewers have noted, the flimsy base for the carafe is a curious design and does dislodge easily when sliding the machine from under the cabinet. Just pay careful attention to how it fastens, note that it is required to raise the carafe to the proper height for brewing, and slide the machine carefully. Honestly, it's fine.Make sure the filter is pressed into place in the filter basket. I've never had an overflow with this. Wetting the filter first or stirring the grounds while brewing is not necessary.I like a hotter temperature than some, and was worried about the coffee staying hot in the carafe. I've found that warming the carafe first with hot water while you prepare the machine is essential, as is replacing the cone-shaped stopper with the travel stopper after you've poured the first cup. I've been happy with the 6 cups I brew staying hot for the short time it takes me to guzzle it down.Overall, I love this coffee maker. It does require you to be a little more careful and intentional with the process, but the results are very satisfying. Just buy it.

The most important feature for an automatic, drip coffee maker, is that it brew the water hot enough to properly extract the flavor from the beans. There are only about three coffee makers that are rated high enough to do this. This coffee maker is one. The Bonavita is another and it is slightly more user-friendly, and a little bit less expensive. I like the look of the techno form, I like it’s hand assembled by Danish (I think) workers and that all parts can be replaced in necessary. It makes spectacular coffee. The insulated carafe does an excellent job of keeping it hot, and it’s very simple in terms of operation. If I had to buy it again, I would not purchase one with the feature that one can remove the carafe, and it will stop brewing. There is a plastic plate that attaches to the body of the unit that seems unnecessary and will fall off easily, and if that is not attached will cause the carafe to not accentuate the valve from the cone where the grounds are to cause the brewing cone to overflow. Frankly, that seems like a design flaw. Additionally, and this may be true with all models, one needs to be present at the end of the brew cycle to turn the unit off or the internal heating element stays on which might damage the unit if left on too long: given the cost it really should have a control that turns the unit off when the brewing cycle is finished. These two problems are why I docked it a star. If not purchased with a deep Prime Day discount those things would make me have buyers remorse for not purchasing the Bona Vita which does not have those problems. FWIW this unit does have a much better thermal carafe than the BonaVita.
