Nice KVM. There is a small physical switch that works for me. It saves desk space. Time to switch is good and hardly noticeable.

This is technically a basic and dumb electronics switch. It turns on/off connectivity from the 3 USB ports and 1 HDMI input over to one of the 4 HDMI/usb combo ports on the back. It acts basically like connecting and disconnecting the devices from the PC in question. Windows will have a freak out and move your apps around when you plug it in. If you use it for a primary display, it most likely will work pretty well (but make to set the switch to the correct PC before turning the PC on). For extended displays apps will get reshuffled off the switched display to the primary display. This is annoying but acceptable for what the device actually does and the cost. It is itself a USB hub and can handle down-stream USB hubs as well (i.e. from a monitor that takes keyboard & mouse USB and is itself a hub).Casing is pretty cheap plastic and the buttons don't feel all that "quality". But they're plastic buttons in a plastic case on a pretty simple circuit board whose job is simply to switch all the various wires from one connector to another. Wire it up, route the remote near the keyboard, and leave the box hiding somewhere and never touch it.It is powered by the HDMI ports, so no need for an extra power connector. Very nice.It comes with 4 HDMI cables with one end being HDMI & USB. No idea if they would work as regular HDMI cables, but they are actually well built. They're also long enough (1.5M or just under 5-ft). (I think the cables might be higher quality than the switch box itself.)Best use case: If you were manually moving an HDMI and USB cable to swap your monitor/keyboard/mouse from one pc/laptop to another, then this is exactly what you're looking for. (I'm even typing this through the switch right now.) Would probably work well to switch a bunch of consoles or media servers connected to a TV, especially if they support a keyboard input. This is not an automatic switch and doesn't read key-combinations. Its just a basic switch. But it does exactly what it needs to do if all you need to do is pull out a couple of cables between devices. The only question might be how long it would last. It's not dealing with anything more than the 5v from hdmi and USB, there's not that much there to burn it out. Have to wait an see. (Literally just got it today and hooked up a couple of laptops to figure it all out.) Will have to update if it burns up prematurely.
