This product seems better than the Force tamper. Much cheaper, heavier, does the job. Why pay $200 for the other one? A good tamp is a good tamp. Right?! But…I bought a The Force tamper…awesome. This is a cheap knockoff. Will it get the job done, sure, but the Force tamper is the real deal. Get it if it’s in your budget.

I got this tamper because I've been used to the fixed kind that does not retract back. This one caught my attention because it has an internal spring that provides a hard stop (and satisfying click) when you've pushed down hard enough to compact the coffee grounds. It has a very nice heft and feel when using that that feels luxurious. This is definitely the tamper we'll be using from now on instead of the monolith flat one that came with our espresso machine.
