This is a great hammer tool. It’s a powerful drill for concrete, etc. It is also great with light demo work like bringing up masonry tile in bathrooms and kitchens. I’ve even used it on some chimney demo. Don’t buy this for bigger concrete jobs, that’s not what it’s meant for. That isn’t a knock on it either, you just need the right tool for the job. This is lighter weight, very handy for ripping up masonry floors, taking down shower tile, and brick work! I buy a kit with several different chisel types. It’s very handy.

This is a great hammer drill! I did quite a bit of research and even tried two other brands before settling on this one. It has plenty of power and the right features to make it easy to use. Aside from Makita being a trusted brand with quality products there are two things about this hammer drill that I really like. First is the trigger lock. I used another brand hammer drill that didn’t have a trigger lock to pull up tile in a small 40 square foot bathroom. After finishing, my trigger fingers (yes I had to try and use multiple fingers to keep going) were sore for days. I swore I would never use another hammer drill without a trigger lock. Second is the drill/hammer dial. On the same tile demo project the other hammer drill had the dial on the left side of the body which is exactly where I wanted to put my hand to hold the drill when not using the detachable side handle. The dial would gradually get pushed out of the lock position and the chisel would then be able to rotate which meant I had to stop, reposition the chisel, turn the dial back to lock and work some more until it happened again. This model has the dial on the bottom of the body so it is out of the way for both right and left handed users. Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I used this tool to do the prep work to repair cracks and large chips in concrete sidewalks and my pool deck. It was the perfect size for that type of work. It worked perfectly and is another example of Makita power tools excellence. I recommend this tool to anyone. It is not lightweight and it is larger than an ordinary cordless type drill.

Makita, synonymous with quality. 30 years ago I used Makita grinders at work, those units ran pretty much 20 out of 24 hours of the day, week after week, and when they stopped working, they only needed brushes, or a cord replaced, and they were right back out there. I have always purchased my Makita tools with the confidence that they will perform exactly as you’d expect for years to come. This tool is no exception, in classic Makita colours, the trigger, trigger lock, and safety lockout all are ergonomically located and intuitive. The SDS Plus chuck is smooth, grips tooling securely, and releases easily. The tool has powerful hammering action, and drills concrete and cinder blocks with ease. Very nice case with generous tooling storage, and excellent latches. Really can’t go wrong with this tool. 10/10 would purchase again.

I love this thing! Bought it to break up a tile bathroom floor with mortar bed, and I was done in two hours. Would've been even quicker if I hadn't had to stop and clean up as I went. I highly recommend this hammer. One caveat, though -- I had to order it twice. The person at Amazon who is in charge of labeling the inventory (or the person who pulled the order) apparently doesn't know a damned thing about tools (and/or can't read) -- the first time I ordered this I got a 3/8" battery powered angle drill (clearly labeled on the side of the box with pictures). Furthermore, having Amazon Prime does not help -- it still takes two more days to get the correct item after they screw it up, so plan your time for errors at Amazon.
