The nonslip has a nice diamond pattern that blends well to the the board and the adhesive bond is impressive.

I ordered this to cut into strips to add some texture to my wife’s shower. She’s nearly fallen a time or two and has slipped a bunch, which always seem to give her a bit of whiplash for the next couple of days. I don’t know if you have experienced this when slipping on ice or in a shower, but the act of trying to stay upright suddenly can sure do a number on your body and leave you sore for days. So I used my wood working skills and made a cutting template using some thin plywood so I could make some nice 1-1/2 wide strips with rounded ends. Rounding the ends seem to help the stuff from eventually lifting, verses sharp corners, in my experience, so that’s what I ended up making. I cut it using a new utility knife blade, which I changed out every other strip. It is abrasive and can damage cutting edges quickly, so I wouldn’t go after it with my favorite pair of scissors, that’s for sure. The next key part is throughly cleaning any soap residue from the shower floor. I started off with concentrated dawn dish soap and very hot water and used a scrub brush to really get things as clean as possible. Then I dried everything and switched to a strong soap scum remaining cleaner, rising very well with plenty of hot water. After it was good and clean from that step, I used a bunch of 70% isopropyl alcohol. I find that for some residues, the alcohol works with the water to attack the residue better than using something like 91% or 99% isopropyl alcohol. Not sure what chemistry or solvent action is at play, but trust me it works. I know this sounds like a lot of work and cleaning, but trust me if you want anything to really adhere to a surface that has seen years of soap scum buildup. It will save you trouble with peeling in the long run. Once everything was clean and bone dry, I used a straight edge and mechanical pencil to lay out markings to get everything aligned and looking professional. Applying the tape was fairly straight forward. I just took my time and made sure to lay it down in such a way as to prevent any air bubbles or shifting. You could probably gently wet the surface and that would allow you to slide everything into precise position and then just let the water dry and the adhesive will take over once the water is evaporated, but I didn’t go that far and it still turned out looking really good! My wife loves the secure grip. It really hasn’t lost much grit, which was probably what I was most afraid of next to peeling, but this stuff is designed for skateboards, which are getting scuffed on with shoes way more than wet, bare feet in a shower. Time will tell if it holds up, but so far so good! I still have quite a bit left over to use in other projects, so the value for the money was great for me. Highly recommend!
