solar needs to be almost full sun so would recommend getting one with different panel .not great for winter charging when lees hours of daylight..

I used to have to start my small car twice a day in the bitter cold, just to charge up the battery, and sometimes I had to jump it. I bought the 10W version. In hindsight, I wish I bought the 12W, but the 10W works fine. I rigged up a dashboard holder using Styrofoam and cardboard, and connected it to the car's OBDII port with this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KJ2RZK.I park outside, where the panel gets about three hours of direct sunlight and a few more hours of ambient light. I let the car sit for a couple of days in below-zero temperatures and it started! No more dead batteries in the winter!

In full sun it takes about two days to put a full charge on a 12v lead-acid motorcycle battery. I use this to charge a 12v battery on a water pump for irrigation. I run the pump for about 15-20 minutes at a time. If I do that every day the charger won't keep up, I'll eventually run the battery completely dead by like day 5. However if I do it every other day it seems to be fine and the charger will usually read full when I go to use it. Definitely very water proof and the amount of connectors it comes with is awesome. Its nice that it has a little status LED light too. Read the manual but Flashing Green means its getting sun and ready to charge, but its not connected to anything. Constant Green means the battery is fully charged. Flashing Red means its charging. Constant Red means something is wrong. Double check your polarity because you can reverse charge a battery with this thing, there's no circuitry to prevent it. Its a nice little unit for the money, I should have bought the higher wattage for daily use.

To start — Customer Support has been great and very responsive. They asked me to clarify a few things and also told me the only way to test the panel is to have it connected to the battery and use a multimeter to test the DC current in-line. I've tried it with 2 multimeters w/out any results and am now going to borrow a 3rd multimeter. That aside, after hooking the panel up yesterday to take a couple of Pics for CS, I decided to leave the panel in place - directly on the outside of the windshield. My earlier test was done with the panel inside the car. I walked away and came back as the sun was going down. The first thing I noticed was that the GREEN light was Solid - indicating a full charge. I then connected my Konnwei battery tester and set it up for my CCA of 650. The tester indicated a CCA of 647, voltage @ 12.57 and battery condition Good. I should have done a better job charting this information, which I intend to do this weekend. I will also try another multimeter to attempt to get a good reading for the DC current. For now - I will upgrade the rating to 4 stars. CS was great, and it does appear to be working. To be continued...

Was skeptical at first due to not sure of true MPPT charger, but turns out to be true mppt charger. The only thing I wish it came with is cable adapter to OBD2 connector. This is important as most cars, only the obd2 connector is operational even the ignition key is off.Only four stars as I have to make my own obd2 cable to be able to charge the car internally, even with ignition power is off.
