The pads received were not Men’s sizing and the size large appears comparable to Boy’s U11 or under. Note: the pads received were fulfilled by Amazon Warehouse and did not match the listing photo (perhaps last year’s model?)

I do feel protected in these shoulder pads, but you definitely feel that they are there in a slightly clunky sort of way. If they were a little longer the straps would hold them down a bit better under your ribs, but instead they ride up a bit.My other complaint is the sizing. There is Cell V specific sizing on STXs website and it puts me in an XL by my height and chest size, but an xxl by weight. I do not see any evidence that an XXL exists. The biggest issue with this is that they have a gap in the shoulder protection (see picture).This actually could be addressed with the current sizing by allowing more adjustment. The shoulder pads do adjust with velcro on the front, but with the way the straps are currently sized, you can't expand them any further.Update: 9/26/2024I've knocked this down another star. The padding on the inside of the chest and the relatively short stature of these pads causes them to ride up and you're constantly tugging them down. We rotated these thru 3 different people and they were always the last choice.

After trying just about every brand and style of the new NOCSAE-compliant shoulder pads, I determined that there are no great options. But, the Cell V offers best combination of protection and comfort available -- though no where near as comfortable as my old Cell IVs. They run small, so be sure to size-up. My biggest complaint is that the bicep pads are HUGE relative to the rest of the pads, so as one who normally leaves them on (I realize many players don't), I've had to remove them from these pads. One major plus of these pads over other current options and past STX pads are the clip fasteners on the front. Velcro and elastic always break down way before the rest of my pads, so I'm hopeful this new system will prolong the life of these. Then again, as soon as someone comes up with a newer model of NOCASE-compliant pads that's actually both comfortable and protective, I'll be the first to upgrade.

Super flexible in the shoulders and full free movement. Light and not as hot as many others. My son says the best thing is he looks like a Storm Trooper!
