I was using an $8.00 wallmart whistle the kind with the synthetic ball that vibrates around at the surface of the exhaust hole and every ounce in a while gets briefly stuck there just Pryor to the purchase of two storm whistles.I bought the extra storm whistle as a gift but after misplacing the one for my self i unwrapped and started using it.there is a differance in the siund between the two !The 2nd one has a higher pitch and just ounce after every few blows does it breifly sound like the first one i began using.there is no rubber ball within the storm so its a bit puzzling as to how the second one doesnt always have a slight fluttering noise.both have a sharp clear cut sound, kind of similar to the treble knob on a raidio turned slightly above the 3/4 mark with the bass at the 1/2 mark.The wallmart whistle has a richer sound that seems equally loud but seemingly not able to cut through the air like a knife through butter.I think the whistle is over priced.

Me es muy útil cuando ando en bicicleta. Es mas potente que un silbato regular de policía, por lo que es mas fácil que automovilistas lo escuchen.

This whistle is seriously loud, it’s huge but lightweight. Purchased to carry in my run vest in case I run into trouble on the trail. It barely fits into the small pocket I have for it. I’ll keep it because it’s so freaking loud. I’d rather have a big loud whistle than a small OK whistle if I need one. Probably will make it easy for small frozen fingers to use anyway. Also love the bright green color. Easy to see and find if dropped on the ground on or off trail.

This wistle is loud! It can ring your ears if your in tight quarters. Perfect as an emergency whistle the sound does travel. It may take a little more effort blowing then some but unless your on oxygen you should have a problem.I actually used this to train my new outdoor cat to come when I blow the wistle. For two days I would blow the wistle only when I gave her cat treats. Now she associates the whistle with treats and she comes running from great distances. She only gets treats when the whistle blows. Iv seen her come running from down the street. She always shows up within 1-2 minutes of me doing a couple short burst of the whistle. Amazing

Great product! Very loud.. Meets all my needs. Might be a little large for some.
