Always considered STIHL to have high quality products and was not disappointed by the quality of the fabric, straps, and buckles. Glad to buy and American made product at a good price.

The chaps are built well and hopefully I will never know how well they work.

They fit well, during warm weather they are warm,Use them every time I operate a chain saw. Have had one chain saw kickback that struck my knee, chaps worked perfectly stopping the chain nearly instantly. I could not react to stop the kickback, minor tear in chaps, fibers in chaps bound the chain and sprocket immediately, did not penetrate all the way through chaps. The force of the kickback left a bruise on my leg. Without the chaps I'd have been to the hospital.

I thought the length was an inseam measurement but while reading reviews I learned it is the side length. I wear a 30 inch inseam so the 36 inch chaps just covered the tops of my boots - just right for protection but nothing to trip on. I thought they would flop around and cause problems when wading through tree limbs while limbing a big tree, but they fit snug and gave me protection while doing the most dangerous part of taking out trees.Don't give up your ability to walk without problems for $100. It only takes a second for a chain saw to rip out a muscle and go to the bone.
