For the price, I would think it would better. It gets all tangled up with almost every cast. Very frustrating for a kid! (And the parents)!!

Bought this as a gift for my son. Drag star and drag do not function well. His frustration was that while it’s rated for 18 lbs, after half a pound, the line would start to come out with the drag star tightened all the way. He’s tried endlessly to fix it. Watched videos. Sadly it’s just junk and a waste of money.

My first baitcaster, and I love it. Just as good or better then the big brand names in fishing for half the cost!

This lower and upper do not match. Lower cracked. A replacement was sent. I have yet to test it out.

My wife wanted to learn how to fish with bait-casting reels and rods, but didn’t really want to jump into the more expensive products until she became proficient. This was an excellent buy to start her off with learning to use bait-casters and now she fishers with her new Shimano Curado rod and DC reel. Now she keeps this combo as a backup and still uses it when we go camping and backing. These are easy to break down and keep on the side pocket of her backpack when we go hiking to find fishing spots.
