The batteries are not the greatest but they will work for at least 3-4 hours. Distance was surprisingly good, I used them one time and set a speaker a little ways around a corner and they worked great!!

It doesn't send synth sound well at all. Gets all farty and distorted. Battery life is closer to 2 to 4 hours. Not 5 hours.Great for lil gigs and not a lotta space

This review is based on owning and using the item for a full year. I am a huge fan of Sennheiser. Have always been and will continue to be. That's why I chose this over less expensive systems I saw my friends using. But I wish I would have made a different choice. My issues are that there is only one charging cord, so I can only charge one of the two barrels at a time. Second, the charge doesn't last long at all. I play for a day and I need to be back on the charger right away. Third, and this is a big one - those little buttons you have to depress really suck. Just give me a positive-feel On-Standby-Off switch, please. I am forever pressing my thumb into these tiny depressions and then waiting to see what happens. I feel I have no idea when the two barrels will see each other and connect. It's just a dumb system. The sound when it works is fine and the range to the amp seems okay. By the time you reach the other end of a standard room in a house, you start to get dropout of signal. So it's not great for walking out to the end of a long stage, by any shot. YMMV.

I've used a number of these small form factor wireless systems. This is significantly better than the other compact units in terms of reliability. I found the Boss system, for example, woefully unreliable. I had used that to replace an earlier Line 6 bodypack system, which was solid and reliable but too bulky and heavy for my stage use. The Boss system was at the hobbyist level. The Sennheiser provides consistently good connections and good coverage range. Battery life is unfortunately a bit short. I play many 5-hour jobs and often am running out of power at the end. I'm expecting that, as the units age and battery life decreases, I will have problems. Also, the recharge time is annoyingly long compared to other wireless systems. However on balance this is the best I've found, and I'm about to buy another pair to have as a backup and for two-instrument situations. One petty annoyance: They only supply a single recharge cable, despite having two separate devices. These are the new USB-C connectors, which are not super-common yet, so I had to run out and buy an extra cable at the local store (at a typically high brick-and-mortar price). Another mystery: When you plug the devices in to recharge overnight, they shut off after reaching full charge. This is handy. But then the following day, when you unplug them, they have already discharged some from when they finished charging. Not a lot -- but it takes another half-hour or so to bring them back up to full charge. Finally, the pedalboard receiver is not at all practical for me. It comes with a center-positive 12V power supply, which is an unusual power source and not supplied by many pedalboard power supplies. The manufacturer tells me I can use an adapter and run the device at 9V, but until I see this spelled out in the published specs, with clear voltage and amperage requirements, I'm not going to believe it. So I will continue to use the discrete rechargeable receivers. Bottom line: It's a good system, the best I've seen so far, but in five years we'll all be laughing about how bad our choices were in 2019. The other reviews that say pros should buy higher-end systems are just silly. The higher-end systems all involve bodypacks, and although they have good stage performance there is no comparison with a device like this that plugs directly into your instrument with no swinging wrecking ball trying to put dings in your instrument's finish. So for now, this is the device for me. If you have a better option, please tell me.[update 8/2021]: As predicted (see below), these devices now run out of power toward the end of each gig. I get about 3 hours of use, if I go to standby on each break. I have not seen any sign that Sennheiser has upgraded the design, and in fact their new product line is based on body packs. So I’m frustrated and disappointed. New compact products from other vendors have continued to focus on bringing the price point down, rather than improving pro performance. I grind my teeth.[update 1/5/2020]: I have found that these units discharge fairly rapidly once fully charged. Last night on stage my transmitter, which had been fully charged a couple of days before, ran out of gas after less than two hours. This has happened to me before, but I had chalked it up to my perhaps having accidentally not fully charged the unit. This time I'm certain. The units were fully charged but had sat idle for a couple of days. I now realize I must fully charge the units immediately before use (well, say, the night before). This is highly annoying and surprising. They still remain my go-to wireless systems (I have two systems, which I always keep charged) but I hope Sennheiser will upgrade the battery/charging system in the future. We need a) better power hold, b) longer operating time, and c) faster charge time. Other than that, they remain better than all the others I've used.
