I got this really cool-looking fishing hat in brown for my husband. Wow! He looks so handsome wearing this hat! I just love the look of it – I smile at him every time I see him in it! I can tell that this is now his go-to hat, because over the last few weeks, I haven’t seen him wear any of his other hats – he wears this one almost every day now when he’s outside. It is adjustable and fits his head perfectly snug, but not at all too tight. It stays on his head, even with a slight breeze. And if the wind is blowing harder, he can tighten the chin strap and it still stays on. This hat is made of a nice lightweight material. It has a nice wide brim to block the sun from his eyes and keep his neck protected from sunburn, too. The air ventilation mesh at the top helps him stay cool while making sure that the top of his head doesn’t get burnt. This hat seems very durable – made to last. Great hat! Highly recommended!

Orange? Really? They're calling this orange? My curiosity was piqued. The color shown in the photos was actually kind of nice. Not orange at all, more of a saturated tan. I'd wear that, I thought. But do I want to risk getting an orange hat? Like those nice folks with STOP/SLOW signs guiding motorists through road construction sites? I would NOT wear something like that, all due respect to those nice folks stuck on their feet in all kinds of ungodly weather and probably not getting paid very well. And you know it's never a good idea to put too much stock in the photos on Amazon. Half the time it's the same photo color-adjusted to a different hue that may or may not resemble the actual product. So I had a dilemma. But then I thought: well, someone has to take the plunge and report back to the rest of us.So here it is, the honest truth about this hat. Are you ready? It's tan.You expected more? Okay, well, I compared it to a ginormous box of crayola crayons we just happen to have and I'd call it burnt sienna, but just a tad lighter. And, not to put too fine a point on it, it's not too far off from the standard crayola tan. It's not bad, actually. Personally, I hope that it fades a bit (maybe even a lot) with use. That would probably look really good, but I guess we'll see. Should be good for hiking and the beach, which are my uses for it.Bottom line, I think the photos are pretty reliable, so if it looks good to you then you may purchase away without fear! You're welcome.

I got this hat for two reasons: I needed a good hat to shield the sun while I hiked the mountains. I live in Arizona and the sun is...intense. I also use it in the pool for the same reason. It's vented around the top to allow airflow around the scalp, which helps to allow moisture to escape (sweat). It's very light weight so no issues with comfort. It also has a cord to keep it from blowing off in the wind and a similar cord around where it fits on your head to help with head size adjustments, although it's a bit tight on my head at that moment but I also need a haircut. Oh, and snaps on both sides so if you wanted to snap the bill up on both sides you can. I can't comment on whether it works great in bad weather/rain, cuz...Arizona.All in all it's a great hat and seems to be very well constructed. I'm sure I'll get years of use out of it. I can recommend it for anybody that has needs similar to mine.

First of all this is a $14 hat, so temper your expectations accordingly. I got this to use while doing yard work in the sun. Should work fine for that use. It came all squished up in the package, and I suspect it will never look like it does in the pictures. There are some permanent fold lines in it now. It is very lightweight, and made of thin material. Don't expect it to last for years. When I went to try it on, I couldn't even get it on my head! Now, I do not have a huge head. Pretty much average in size, so I was a bit miffed. There is no label, so I couldn't even tell which was the front/back. I then noticed an adjustable string poking out the "back" of the hat where the brim attaches to the top (see pic 6 in description). You use that to adjust for the head size. It was already most of the way out, but by opening it all the way, I was able to get the hat on. After wearing it for a while and sweating, I suspect it will loosen up some, but then again it may shrink more when washed. In hindsight, I guess the snaps on the sides will give you a good indication of orientation.Once I got it on, it looks pretty creased and sloppy. Definitely not crisp like in the pics. More like an old army floppy boonie hat. When I tried snapping the sides in the up position, it just looked very narrow and stupid. Maybe it will look better after being washed, but I suspect it will be even more wrinkled and floppy. We'll see. The hat is not very comfortable, and you can feel the narrow hat band a bit constricting around your head. I don't think I will be wearing this for hours and hours at a time.It also has a chin strap. I don't know about you, but I can't imagine needing that to keep the hat on. I don't plan on wearing this in a hurricane. Unfortunately, there is no way to remove it other than cutting it off. Tucking it up inside the hat is just annoying. I will probably just cut if off, but it would be nice if it was removable.Overall this is a hat that looks and feels cheap. If you have a "smaller" head, and you don't really care how it looks, this is an inexpensive choice. If you have a larger head, forget it!

As an avid outdoorsman I was in need of a wide brim hat for when in the sun so I figured I would give this a shot. It's a really nice hat that had sturdy snaps for the sides to be lifted and kept up if desired. As a one size fits most that includes a draw string the hat bands was very tight when it arrived. Luckily I had gotten my daughter a wicker hat that was a bit tight her her and I had ordered a hat stretcher and decided to try it out on this hat and it worked to make this hat fits comfortably and the material did not shrink back so I'll be able to wear it in hopes that if it gets wet it won't shrink.I gave it 4 stars due to the "one size fits most" not fitting very well on someone with an average sized adult head. Being as it has a draw string you would expect it to run larger in size and not smaller as it does. It's a great hat though and I am glad it's very reasonably priced, even if I did need to stretch it before being able to wear it.A 2 direction hat stretcher is under $20 and has a place in many people's homes, especially those who wear hats regularly.
