These rocks are really nice quality. They don’t break easily like normal crayons. They glide very nicely and the colors are really vibrant. They require very little pressure, which makes them great for small children to use (under proper supervision of course). I ordered the 16 color set and was pleased to find 4 of each color, I just assumed there would be two of each based on the stock photos. Some of the colors were really close together, maybe they could have thrown some teal in there instead of two yellows that are almost identical on paper. The lighter purple is barely visible and took more pressure to appear on white paper but would probably look nice if coloring construction paper. Because of the round shapes, don’t expect them to be as precise, they are great for younger children who don’t expect to color perfectly within the lines or even for someone coloring larger areas such as background shading. The price point was high in my opinion. I think $15-$20 would be more reasonable for this set.

MY USEI purchased these to use at my arts & craft station for two (2) events with a mixed age of children. With this class set, I had plenty of each color and an easy storage system during the activity. The shape prevented rollaways and I had zero broken crayons. The crayon did not leave any waxy, flaky buildup on the page that you may find with cheap, off-brand crayons.CHILD/STUDENT REACTIONThey all wanted to know what they were and had to test them out before believing they were crayons. I observed that all (big and small) were able to comfortably grip and use these. The box setup encouraged them to keep the station tidy with no requests from me. They were eager to place their crayon back into the correct section.PARENT REACTIONAll the parents loved these! Everyone thought they were perfect and wanted to know where I found them. Parents appreciated the size and the flat bottom that prevented them from rolling off the table..BOTTOMLINEThe classroom set is great for use with groups and for projects that do not require fine detail. I would make the purchase again for use with groups and projects that require a lot of background coloring.

My daughter has a thing for rocks. She loves them and I knew she would love these crayons. She is a little artist and sure enough, she loves them! The rocks are colorful, true to their color and eco-friendly (bonus!) My daughter colors with these rocks every now and then, but the texture is different than normal crayons. They are made differently (to make them eco-friendly), so the texture is a little weird, but still colorful. Also, you can look at the shape of the rocks and see that you wont be coloring anything with fine edges - this is more for free drawing because they are small and bulky. Highly recommend these rock crayons for any little artist!

I bought these after seeing an endorsement from an occupational therapist. These are terrific crayons and wonderful for toddlers up to adults. The unique shape helps with grip and they leave a vibrant, smooth color. You can then smudge the whole picture for a cool effect.

How well these crayons work for your child will depend on her age and size. Tiny hands (ages 2-5 or so) will find that they fit quite nicely, living up to their ergonomic expectations. Bigger hands (around age 5+) will be frustrated and feel cramped. So note to Crayon Rocks -- make a bigger size for your bigger customers! Especially those of us who are vegan and eco-conscious, and so looking for a good alternative to beeswax or paraffin crayons.Otherwise: Colors are good but a little dull and unvaried, though its true that the "dusty/waxy" appearance is superficial and doesn't affect the color of the crayon. Blending is pretty good, better than beeswax but not as good as oil pastels. The bulk cardboard box came in handy for projects.
