It’s big but these are the best litter boxes. The top entry helps keep the dog from digging for “treasures”, and it’s plenty big for my large cat. Also easy to clean. And the cats like the privacy while they’re doing their business.

This is our second litter box like this. We get the top-entry boxes because it decreases the mess from the cats jumping in and out of it. This box, in particular, is designed well. When there’s any dust or litter on top, you lift the lid and everything slides back into the box. Not all top-entry boxes have this feature. Also, it’s narrow enough that it fits easily between the toilet and cabinet.

My cat was using a litterbox with a top cover but would always angle himself towards the back and pee near the side so it would leak out the top of the box and get all over the outside and floor. I got a new kitten a month ago and so I was looking for a larger box to add that they could eventually share. I figured i would try a top loading box to hopefully alleviate the peeing issue my first cat had. At first he was scared of the box lol so I had to get him used to the empty box but once he got comfortable with the idea he had no issues going in and out of it. I had first filled it with new litter and for the first day he would go in and out of the box but wouldn’t actually use it. The next day I mixed in some of his used litter from his old box and he immediately took to it after that. He went in it right away and used it, not only that but my new 2 month old kitten went in to use it right after as well without even being shown how it worked which I didn’t even expect her to. From that moment on they’ve both chosen this litterbox to use, I have it sitting right next to the old one but they’ve both been using this box everytime they go and have not used the old one one time since. That for me was good enough BUTT just have to add, the design on this box is absolutely perfect the top swings open and hinges on the side allow for all the litter that accumulates on top to fall right back in, it has also cleared up so much of the litter mess that used to get all over my floor with the old one. I originally planned to keep both boxes to make sure the cats were fully comfortable but they absolutely love this box and have fully abandoned their old one after one day. Every cat is different and some may not adjust as easily but I would say this box is definitely worth a try if you’re looking to avoid a litter mess on the floor or have a cat that routinely misses the box. It’s on the more expensive side for a litter box but I feel it’s entirely worth it as it not only worked for what I needed it to but also exceeded my expectations. !!!

I own this one and the Clever Cat box in addition to various other, more traditional styles, including a storage tub about the same size as this one but with no lid at all. That helped with the problem of peeing up the side, but there was a lot of litter scatter as the cats leapt up and out. I got the Clever Cat next and love the sturdiness and litter control, though they still just leap out sometimes. Even with that stability, it took a few weeks for my cats to accept the new format. I bought the Petco Phresh much later, and mostly for the flip up lid and because the top surface seemed a little gentler on the foot pads. The downside to the CleverCat is that it tends to fling any litter left on the lid when I open it, because it snaps on and it's sturdy and fastens down well. The Petco Phresh flip lid is awesome for keeping the litter in the box, but it is substantially more flimsy (as every review has noted - thanks for the warning) and does bend when my 10# cats hop up. Because of this, I'm not sure they would have accepted the Phresh if they weren't already trained to the Clever Cat. But they did take to it eventually. One note, I am always very careful to engage the latch that holds the lid closed. I'm sure that if I forgot even once and my cats were dumped off the top, they would never forgive it (or me) and probably wouldn't use the box again. They have loooooong memories.

Love everything about this cat box!! The simple yet extremely convenient top makes cleaning/scooping a breeze and I LOVE that it is bigger than most so my Maine Coon has room to do his business! My boy is big but can be skiddish so I worried he might not use the top entry but he took right to this with no hesitation and seemed to love the privacy and secure feeling. This also eliminated the problem of litter scatter as well as him scratching/distorting the wall to cover his deposits and my only wish is that I had found this item sooner!! Excellent product great quality at a great price THANK YOU So Phresh for marketing this!
