Great quality, helps a lot to raise the camera so I can attach my Sony 200-600 lens with the lens suport at the front of the rail.

I wanted to love this, but even on the first day that I got it the clamp to lock in the plate was loose. It does not feel like my camera is secure even though I’m using the correct plate. I see other reviews saying the same thing and tell me this is simply unacceptable as I bought this new yesterday.

I buy products from Smallrig all the time. I bought this mount for my shoulder rig, to attach it to my Sony a7siii that sits inside a Smallrig cage. I attached this to my shoulder rig via 15mm rods.At first, it was amazing. It felt sturdy, fit just right, and the clamp that locks in the base plate was surprisingly strong. But here's where the problem came in...I've only had it for a few weeks, but I recently started to notice the clamp becoming looser and looser whenever I slid off the camera and put it back on. Eventually, it got to the point that the base plate wasn't even completely locked in, because it would slide a little bit if I held the rig at certain angles.I had hoped this required a simple adjustment, like tightening a screw, or fastener, or something. So, I opened up the mount to take a look. The mechanism behind the clamp was simple and straightforward, but I quickly found the problem: when the clamp is adjusted, there is a tiny gap through which the little lever behind the clamp can wiggle through. You don't notice when it happens, but if the lever slides through that gap, after a few instances, it can gradually tighten or loosen the pressure of the clamp.I made a small adjustment to see if it would help, but then it started to get too tight after adjusting the clamp. It even got so tight that it would not let go of the camera, and I had to spend 20 minutes trying to pry it off.I might have reached out to Smallrig or Amazon for a replacement, but prying off the camera damaged the mount a little, so I don't know if they'd take it back now.If it weren't for this, I wouldn't have had anything bad to say about the mount. If it were a fraction of the cost, I wouldn't be so upset. But, as it is now, I still use it because I need to. I just try not to unmount the camera unless I have to, so that I don't have to keep using the clamp. And that shouldn't have to be the case.
