This is a great router set with everything you need to make stuff. It's easy to assemble and do work. It's easy to adjust and maneuver with a lot of power. It has a good weight and feels well-made. This is good for beginners and experienced wood workers alike. This is worth the money.

I have other routers including a Dewalt and this is just as good if not better. It is powerful, accurate and easy to use. It also includes both a battery and charger that makes this a great deal.

I got the SKIL 20V Brushless (battery) Compact Router Kit. Although not featured in the photos, this kit include three common router bits to get you started, as well as the router and base, battery and charger, vacuum shroud and edge guide. The router is well balanced and easy to use with the included base. For such a small router, the battery might have knocked off the balance, but not for this router. The vacuum shroud attaches on one side with a plastic pin and on the other side with a plastic screw that tightens into a plastic housing. I am not sure how much wear and tear the plastic screw can handle, but I can always glue the shroud in place. The depth adjustmen is a smooth-turning screw, the work light is helpful, and the edge guide slides easily into a slot. Skil is building a good set of battery tools and this small router is a great addition to their suite.

This little router packs a punch! I was initially skeptical about its power given the compact size, but I was pleasantly surprised. It cuts through wood cleanly and smoothly. The included bits are decent quality, and the adjustable depth is easy to use. I did find the dust collection to be a bit lacking, but it's not a dealbreaker for occasional projects.

Review for: SKIL 20V Brushless Compact Router KitI already have a couple of 'pony' routers, also called 'trim' routers - Makita, Dewalt and Bosch but since they really come in handy, I thought I would give this Skil router a try. I have a couple of other Skil woodworking tools (their 10" worm drive table saw is a real winner in my opinion) and I am impressed with the quality/value.This is a complete starter kit, which includes a 4.0 ah battery, charger, edge guide and dust shroud and even a couple of basic bits to get you started. The router appears to be well-made and has excellent fit and finish. The electric motor is brushless and Skil rates it 'up to 1hp'. It's nice to see user-friendly features like 'soft start' and a LED light. The controls are pretty intuitive and well-marked. The speed control is a thumb wheel on the side, and the on/off switch is a toggle on the front that is easy to see and get to. I thought the dust guard was excellent as it completes encloses the cutting area.These smaller pony/trim routers really come in handy, and I will probably just keep one bit in the Skil and use it for 'rounding over' edges or something similar. (You can never have enough routers). The edge guide is a little on the flimsy side, but I have no use for it, although it is nice to see that they did include one.All in all at this price point, I think this is a great starter kit and a great value.
