I *do* believe this is real shungite. It's definitely a stone. But I do believe it is shungite, actually. I've been burned before where I bought a shungite bracelet from a friend who sells stones and it turned to not be shungite, but a painted over acrylic/resin/plastic. I was so upset! I don't think she did the duping....she's the "expert" but she got conned. It's unnerving how many cons there are in the stone and crystal world these days. But it's definitely a stone (kept it's cool) despite being warmed up in my hands. It has enough differentiation where it does look like shungite. It also got slightly scratched when I took a metal tweezer to one of the beads (not badly). Shungite has a 3.5-4 Mohs scale hardness (like fluorite) so it's pretty soft and can be scratched by most metals.Does it have the desired effects on me? I'm not sure. I am going to make a rosary out of it, or else a rosary bracelet, so I haven't been around it long enough to know.I counted the beads - there were 45 on mine. They weren't all identical (to me, that is a good sign and means it is a natural stone), or identically sized. They had a little bit of variation to it. I only need 45 because I want to make a sacred codes bracelet which requires exactly 45 stones. So this is perfect for me. It comes with a few cards that detail shungite highlights and properties, as well as black elastic thread to make a bracelet with. I think this is a good value, as shungite basically only comes from one place, and isn't cheap!
