Works well with my phone if I have to run a course just turn off your plotter and go by Compass points north, so that’s a good thing

None of the compass's I've seen are this big for the price. This is a big compass to mount but I knew that reading other reviews as well as the description. It really stands out on the dash of my boat but I don't mind. So far, N points north so the rest should work fine. I like it for its size and nice black color along with the stand that holds it up. I'm guessing the more expensive ones have a metal stand vs this one is plastic. The top has a cover that shields one side and you can move it across the top for shade if the sun is too bright. I'm not using the light yet so I can't comment on it other then to say the wires are at the bottom. I mounted mine behind the steering wheel on the dash of my boat just above the gauges and it clears the windshield just fine with room to spare. The base cradle has two pre-drilled holes and I used one existing screw on the dash to hold it on. I would buy this again if need be. If you want a big compass that looks great, this does the trick at a very good price.

To soon actually to determine as not mounted in boat yet. Will be in May before boat in water.and using compass

You can't beat the price and it does the job. I didn't take the time to connect the light in it because I would have had to drill a hole on my dash board and I don't think it would have made a big difference. It sits right next to my fish finder and looks good. It works fine otherwise and I am very happy with it.
