I have to say that ShopFox doesn't seem to care about its brand. I ordered this drill press and it arrived dented in two places around the motor and belt housings; other parts in the package were loose and strewn about the box. The main problem is the heavy weight tool is packaged in cheap low density styrofoam and it breaks apart easily causing metal parts to bang against each other. I won't buy from this brand again.

My husband and I immediately ordered this product to utilize the dual purpose tool features (drill press & osculating sander) after viewing the marketing video that describes the functions and features of this product. Unfortunately, we hadn't reviewed any of the customer feedback comments before ordering and then later found a few negative comments that were concerning (ie. motor housing damage, packaging not adequate, & etc.). We received this item and assembled it yesterday. Below are some pros & cons during assembly, but overall, we had a highly positive experience and I would recommend this item as a reliable addition to any shop.Cons: I will start with the cons first, as they are limited. When we opened the box, most of the packaging had extreme damaged; however, all of the parts were intact with no damage. The packaging damage was not a big concern, as we decided that styrofoam packaging is designed to take shipping blows, and our item was shipped all the way to Alaska, so we know it goes through many hands (and some shipping centers are not as careful with packages as others along the way). For the second con, I mistakenly ordered a sanding drum mandrel (which is a main component to use this tool as a sander), but it is definitely included with the tool purchase. It was not clear to me if this part was included for the W1667 model, as I didn't see it in the item description nor was it mentioned in the marketing video for the smaller version of this tool (or I may have missed it), but it turns out that a second mandrel will be helpful to have for step-process sanding, pre-loaded with a different grit cylinder for a quick change, if needed.Pros: Assembly took approximately 20 minutes, with easy-to-follow instructions and diagrams that are provided to guide you through. There are many well-thought out safety features incorporated into to this item and measuring charts included in the instruction manual that will be helpful information when utilizing this tool. We also love how easy it is to change from a drill press to a sander, and greatly appreciate that it oscillates to help preserve the longevity of the sanding cylinder. This item comes with three 80 grit sanding cylinders with other grits available for purchase. The other positive for us is how compact it is with our limited space in the shop.

Happy with the drill press however the isolating feature failed with in 1/2 an hour of using it. just a small second drive belt. I could replace the belt but never bothered. But as a drill press, pretty good value

This is my 2nd Shop Fox benchtop drill press. My original one I gave to my neighbor as I hadnt used it very much. Now I found I have a need for one. As my original one, the paint job on this one SUCKS!! They really need to find a Chinese that knows how to paint. The paint is flaking off right out of the box. Either they didnt clean it properly or they didnt prime it. My original one from 2 years ago was the same and I called Woodstock on it. Evidently they did nothing to resolve it. Either paint it properly or dont paint it at all. Im going to remove the table and sand off the paint job. Shouldnt be too hard since most of it is already falling off. When I got it, I spent about an hour with rags and mineral spirits cleaning off the grease that was all over it. After I got it all assembled I ran a test and it passed with flying colors. Lets hope it lasts. Outside of the crappy paint job, it seems to be well made and does what I need done.UPDATE: Before I go to the trouble of sanding off whats left of the paint on the table. I emailed Shop Fox requesting a replacement table thats painted properly ( not holding my breath). Will see what happens. Truthfully, if the Chinese box hadnt been destroyed in shipping I would return this to Amazon for a different make. Will update if I hear from Shop Fox.2/8/2013: Called Woodstock over 2 weeks ago and got a recording "We're closed, leave your phone number and we will call you back within 24 hours". Never happened!! Spend your money on a different company that cares. Woodstock evidently doesnt give a damn.
