I had ordered one of these devices back in March, and it worked so well that I ordered two additional ones. I have paired them with a Hubitat Hub, and can confirm that it does work with that platform with both the built-in driver in the hub, as well as the community Tuya mmWave driver that is available in the Hubitat Package Manager. The device is remarkably sensitive and can detect motion from quite a distance (6 meters, if not farther). Please note that installation location is important. I had a ceiling fan in one location, and if the fan was on, the device would not go "inactive" for motion detection, so plan your placement carefully! Also, if you pair with Hubitat, be sure to give it time (up to 24 hours?) for it to fully show all the motion and illuminance capabilities.Linptech support was very helpful and responsible for help via Amazon Seller interactions, and was willing to dive into the details to help me with my initial challenges (which were patience and knowledge issues on my part). One thing to note is that you need to have firmware version 1.0.6 on the device to have the capability to disable the LED, and the only way to upgrade the firmware currently is via the Tuya hub. Two of mine came with 1.0.5, so they went in locations where the LED doesn't matter. So, depending on which firmware comes on the device, you might not be able to turn off the LED in a non-Tuya (Hubitat) hub. But other than firmware updates, the rest seems to work well.

In ZHA for Home Assistant there is only one entity for presence (On/Off). Use Zigbee2MQTT and you’ll have many more entities exposed to be able to tweak and tune to your liking. Honestly though, for under $30 this is a great mmWave presence sensor. It updates state within 10 seconds under ZHA, so I didn’t bother moving it to Zigbee2MQTT, even though I run both ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT.However, I really hate that blinking blue LED. It flashes ever 5 seconds when it detects presence. I put some black tape over it. Without that defect/‘feature’ I would have given this 5 stars.

The sensor arrived in a nondescript box with no branding, instructions, or power block. It is powered by an included USB C to USB A cable (why not USB C on both sides?).During set-up, I was skeptical because there was not any visible indication that the unit turn bed on. After researching, I found that the light is customizable on/blink/off after setup. The device did not show in Home Assistant or Apple Home and without a brand or app, I don’t know if there’s a particular setup for this device. After trying multiple blocks including my laptop dock which I know for certain works, I decided this unit is DOA and proceeded with a return.

It took me a while to get all the settings dialed in to work how I wanted, but after doing so these have been rock solid to use in areas where traditional IR sensors are less ideal. I'm using them in my living room and office - places where people often sit still for longer periods of time. These allow me to set up my lighting logic with shorter timeouts, which gives a much better overall automation experience.

These devices paired quickly with my Hubitat hub. I would suggest looking up and installing the driver first since it is not built-in already. If you don’t install the driver code first, you’ll just need to go back into the device and manually change the “Type” to “Linptech 24Ghz Presence Sensor ES1”.I haven’t played around with it too much and honestly don’t know how reliable it is.. but these are super sensitive and have precision adjustments on how far you want to sense, up-to about 20 feet. I put these in my shipping container workshops, so the distance was perfect for a 20 ft container. Also awesome that it has a magnet back so I don’t need to tape or screw it in (shipping containers are all metal). The device is super responsive communicating with my hub, even through the walls of the container. The radar doesn’t appear to penetrate through the metal for false activation, but can “see through” drywall, wood and other non-ferrous materials.I have two issues with the design of this thing and both have to do with the poor design of the advertised “Magnetic Base” swivel adapter that attaches to the device. I was under the impression that the magnetic base would be.. “magnetic”.. well, it’s not. It’s just a hinged piece of plastic with metal attached to both ends and double sided tape on one end. The fact that they have a metal piece on the taped side makes absolutely no sense… I thought “this has to be a magnet”… nope. There is one fairly weak magnet on the underside of the device which holds the adjustable base to the device. Now here’s my biggest issue with this “magnetic” base… the moment you swing it outwards, the hinge acts like a lever and literally lifts the base away from the device. So this already weak magnet is now being pushed away, if you want to swing open the angle a little. Needless to say, I won’t be using these poorly designed adapters. The device itself doesn’t really weigh anything and might not be very likely to detach on its own, but the strain of the USB cable and a little nudge is all it would take. Also, without the “magnetic” base, the device sticks magnetically to my metal container.. but it’s just super weak.. I’ll call it, “good enough”… but just barely.
