While I have driven grounding rods before, that is not my primary use of this tool. I got this to drive rebar stakes mostly – particularly for railroad tie retaining walls. I will say, that having driven 8' grounding rods with a sledge hammer before, that if that is what you're up to, I couldn't recommend this tool enough if you want to save yourself a lot of hard work. For driving rebar through railroad ties and into the ground below, I had previously bought myself an SDS-Plus ground rod driver and it worked fantastically for a short while until the shank snapped. That tool was not made by the same company that makes these so while it's not an apples-to-apples comparison, I would be cautious of suggesting that any SDS-Plus ground rod driver is appropriate for railroad ties. This SDS-Max bit, however, with about 3x the shank cross-section area, I think is well prepared to handle the stresses of driving rebar through railroad ties. While I haven't done railroad ties with this bit yet, I did several test runs of driving 5/8” rebar about 3' feet into the ground – effortlessly, a matter of seconds, really. (The real effort is in removing 3' of rebar from the ground!)The product description is accurate except for this bit:“Each ground rod driver packed with one 4 inch long flexible vinyl protective end cap to minimize vibration and protect ground rod side copper damage.”No such protective cap was included. I will still give this 5 stars because it's not an issue I care about and I otherwise think it's a fantastic SDS Max bit for under $25 (presently).

The driver seems fine but i selected the “plus” sds bit and received the “max” which my hammer drill is not si i couldnt use. I initiated a return through amazon but through a glitch in the system it reordered a replacement along with a return label. So i returned the first sds max and got sent another sds max driver i still have no use for. The product is fine and should drive well.
