Only took about ten minutes to mount the downriggers to the swivel bases. The swivel bases are built like a tank. Super strong construction and much larger than I had imagined. The locking button for changing position is very easy to use. I’m very impressed with Scotty.

Fits my smaller Scotty 1060 Downriggers. Pretty much universal mounting on my boat, secured the base plate then everything else was easy.

It lifted the Scotty 1026 up and let me set it to any angle. I like it.

I run two manual (#1085) downriggers on my aluminum boat that has welded downrigger mount brackets attached to the gunwale rails. One of the used 1085s came with a #1026 swivel pedestal. I found it a challenge to mount the original tilt-up mount bracket (#1023, which come with 1085s) on my boat's welded bracket. If I centered the mounting bolts on the 1023, my DR would butt up against the mounting plate and wouldn't raise fully to lock in the upward position. If I set it inward so the unit could tilt fully, the nuts/washers would conflict with the rails under the edge of the mounting bracket. In fact I had to run it with 3 bolts for a few weeks. Since the other unit with the #1026 worked fine, I picked up a 2nd for the other side. Now both downriggers work perfectly. There are a few negative reviews on Amazon. They seem to focus on slop in the 1026 and also with the swivels being too wide for their gunwales. There IS a little slop/play in these but I don't notice it once the unit is mounted with a downrigger and in use. Second, too wide for your gunwales? Sorry guys, do your homework. A quick Google search easily reveals the base and bolting dimensions. These seem bomber. They do what they're supposed to and fully solved my problems. Swiveling my downriggers to align with the gunwale while traveling seems more secure than traveling with them straight up. Lastly, one of the big benefits I don't see people mentioning: when the DRs are removed, you'll find that the included mounting plate (also available separately #1036) leave a nice, clean mounting platform on your boat. This is really nice for those days you don't need downriggers, or during storage (they're pretty cheap and I can't imagine them being a target for thieves).
