A solid metal rod that allows secure joint to form at both ends. Its textured surface and its right length makes a good fit and always keeps a secure mount on a 1/4" screw/hole, or in a clamp grip, or just for hand-holding. Could always be joined to increase the reach. I find it useful in all kinds of applications: mounting lights, holding cameras, attaching ballheads ... It gets so essential that when a little extra room is needed to get over the crampedness in order to allow the job get done. It is such a no-brainer to get or just to try and it will find its way to every video maker or photographer's bag.

Great product and when I talked to my local shop they told me to spray some high density foam (Great Stuff spray foam) or install a shim board around the sides pole holder to give it lateral support. That way you can run your downrigger off the side and it won't stress your pole holder mount screws. It was a great cheap idea and has worked flawlessly all salmon season!
