If you are a deep tissue type of person that loves when a masseuse uses their elbows to grind out your knots; this is a “hurt-so-good” —not for the faint of heart.It’s foam, but has the effect of hard plastic digging into your body that’ll have you holding your breath and remembering to breathe.It’s probably better to start up with a warm up roller and then work into this hardcore one bc it goes straight to the pressure. I like to slowly loosen (warm up) and then get onto this one —unless you need severe pressure immediately.Love the spikes. It gets straight to the point.I’d give it 5 stars except for the price. I think it’s worth less than $30, and can’t believe how much I paid for it. Wonderful on the back and to loosen knots.

Currently dealing with a long-term muscle issue with knots in my lower and upper back. I'm under the care of a physical therapist and one of the things they recommended was daily foam rolling. I had a textured foam roller at home and found that rolling my back helped with the pain a lot, but the roller was not very aggressive. I found this product to see if I could get better results from something designed to punish those knots for existing (as advised by my PT). I got the combo because the knot in my upper back is behind my shoulder blade and REALLY hard to get to with a regular sized roller. This are expensive, but worth it. I can fit both of them in my gym bag and have started rolling myself out before and during weight lifting exercises. I can notice the difference immediately. And that little ball? Oh.My.God. I put it against a wall and get it straight in to my upper back knot. It's amazing. Fully 100% recommend this product. It is much better than the smooth rollers, and much better than the average knobby rollers for muscle knots and strains. Probably overkill for routine stretching and post-workout rolling, but certainly can't go wrong with it. I will update this review if it softens or significantly degrades over time with reasonable use.
