This set is constructed from a single piece (no edges for things to get caught in) and the amounts are stamped into the metal (shouldn't wear off). This set was one that was highly rated to be near accurate in measurements (some sets were off be quite a lot). The tablespoon fits into all my spice jars (Morton & Bassett .28 oz. and McCormick .50 oz.). Some people wanted them to include a half tablespoon in the set but why....1 1/2 teaspoons equals half a tablespoon. This set washed up nicely by hand and in the dishwasher.

The press itself is excellent quality; however, it does not fit a one-cup Pyrex measuring cup as claimed. Get a two-cup measuring cup.

I've been growing, making, canning my own food for about a year. I grew up that way, but lost touch with my roots. Anyway, as a semi-new making homemade food person, I was a little worried about the negative reviews I read about this mill. I'd never used one before and didn't really know what to look for in a review. Complaints about the design and having to scrape and fiddle with it made me a smidget nervous.I've come to the conclusion that those reviewers were drunk when they tried to use the mill. It's the only plausible explanation. This is awesome. It's easy to put together even without instructions. The blade only fits one way. Once together, it is very sturdy. The ridged grippers fit every pan I used, and I used a lot. Towards the end of the night, when I was really tired because I had under-estimated the amount of time it would take to boil and mill 2 bushels of apples, I shoved the bowl as full as possible with apples fully expecting it to clog or not work so I could give up and go to bed. It didn't. It plowed right through it, which actually torked me off a little because I could have saved a lot of time just doing that from the beginning.Towards the end of milling a batch, I scraped the mush into the path of the blade to squeeze every bit of applesauce out. Once the stabilizing bar is in place, the entire unit stays together in one piece, even upside down in the sink to rinse the seeds and skins off the blade. It took some effort to mill the apples, to scrape the sides into the blade, to rinse off the blade when it needed it, but most homemade things do take a little elbow grease. Lucky for us, this mill makes that effort fun, and faster, and way easier.I'm very happy with this purchase, and even if it conked out in a year of use, I'd buy another.
