The original 30 pin male to usb connector is not durable at all, hopefully this replacement 30 pin to 8 pin converter will last longer.

I have an old iPod nano with a frayed 30-pin to USB-A cable, which I have now discarded. This handy lightning to 30-pin adapter enables me to connect my short, 6" USB-A to lightning cable to the back of the adapter. In turn, I plug the lighting to USB-A cable into the USB-A port on the Pioneer radio in my truck. This works. The music on the nano pipes through the radio speakers and sounds great. I am able to control all my nano music app playlists from my Pioneer. I believe (but have not verified) that the nano also charges while thus piping the music. (Note that lightning headphones will NOT work when plugged into the adapter. You will still need to use headphones with a round 3.5mm aux pin when listening directly from the nano.) I now leave the 30-pin to lightning cable permanently plugged into the nano. This enables me to use my vast array of lightning cables to charge the nano without the need for a separate, dedicated 30-pin cable. In short, this is a highly versatile and useful little adapter. I strongly recommend it.
