RICO ROYAL GRAFONITE The B CHAMBER The "B" tone chamber will give a little more brilliance (better for using with most bands).FACINGS Facing (3, 5, or 7): The facing is determined by the distance from the tip of the reed to where it first touches the mouthpiece. The bigger the facing number, the farther back the reed goes before actually touching the mouthpiece. Changing the facing of the mouthpiece will generally change the volume of the instrument. With a shorter facing (3), less of the reed is vibrating, so the instrument will tend to be quieter, with a longer facing (7), more of the reed is vibrating, so the instrument will tend to be louder.

It’s a decent mouthpiece to have as a spare, or for experimenting with reshaping. But otherwise nothing special.

I know mouthpiece preferences are personal, if not subjective, but I have noticed an appreciable enhancement of sound quality since I started using this. B5 is admittedly quite middle of the road (I use medium strength reeds) and people who want a darker or brighter sound will probably be better using mouthpieces with more extreme openings, but I am satisfied with this, and probably will be for some time.

This is a very nice part. New and functional. Great price. I ended up getting a C5, also. I seemed to run out of breath playing the B7. You may want to check for a different Rico if you are a beginner. They are affordable mouth pieces and seem to do a serviceable job job.
