Update:Took these to Sydney (Australia) for use on CelebrityCruises EDGE ship.OMG. We were on deck 7, mid ship. No problems talking from the room to the smoking area on DECK 15 !Good points.1.Light weight2.Excellent build quality3.Loud audio4. easy to use5. Works well in town with average of 1.5KM with clear audio and 2km with scratchy audioBAD POINTS:a) Needs a programming cable (sold seperate) to make any changes to channels, bandwidth,vox level, squelch levels, etcWorth every dime !

About four hours ago, I received my set of three walkie-talkies. We use them while riding our E bikes to warn each other of cars, etc. We had had larger walkie-talkies and there was no place to put them and it was very difficult to deal with. These new ones are amazing. They weigh about an ounce. They have a necklace kind of an item. . They have a necklace kind of item that you can connect to wear it around your neck and the buttons are simple to change channels or to increase or decrease volume. I went through a lot getting the walkie-talkies that we used, but saw these at the last minute while shopping the other day and I can’t emphasize how good they are. They only go about 10 to 12 houses away but when you’re on a bike that’s all you need. If you’re looking for something that you can talk a mile away this isn’t it but you’re looking something for your bicycle or just talking to your loved one in the backyard. This is the one to get and there’s a bonus. He gets three units.

Thought this would be PERFECT for around the house. (Especially for 2 active seniors). Bought the 3-pack. Yes, they all 3 worked. The farthest distance we had them apart was about 100 yards, but the signal stayed strong. HOWEVER, the voice activated function was inadequate. Turning VOX on and off was easy. To use the VOX, your mouth has to be no farther away than 2-3 CENTIMETERS from the device.This was a disappointment as we purchased the device as a means of communication in all situations --even an emergency. For example, if one is on a ladder, falls off, and only has the power to moan or whine loud enough to activate the device to get help, then the device is useless. The fall victim has to first be able to function well enough to get the device nearly completely pressed to his/her/their lips for it to enagage. (Sadness. Will still keep looking for an affordable solution to our problem).

Walkie-Talkies work fine, right out of box. But included owners manual refers to "adjustment in software." Contacted Customer Support with specific questions. Only responses have been link to a website - not answers to my question. Website offers a myriad of downloads without function/exploration. I downloaded several, and have yet to find answers to my original questions. Summary - units work (well), but if you want to use offered features beyond turn on/off, forget about "Laura" at customer service.Have sinbce had lots of help from Angela Lee. Owners' Manual is confusing, as it keeps referring to software, but doesn't describe that the software is to be downloaded to a computer (not the unit). To use the software, you must purchase a specialized programming cable (which the company provided to me gratis to clear up confusions). The units really work fine, right out of the box. The software has a help option that doesn't work, but with the programming cable and the software, I was able to tailor the units to my requirements. As of now, I strongly recommend these units -- even if you choose to skip the programming software and specialized cable. I thank Angela Lee for her patience with me and for helping to resolve my issues.

Like many "seasoned citizens" my wife and I have trouble hearing each other, especially between rooms. I had been looking for something to solve this problem off & on for quite some time. A few weeks ago, my wife fainted in another room and I didn't hear her cries for help at first. This caused me to act to buy something. These Retevis RTY-20's are a great choice and exactly what we need.They arrived very promptly. One of the 3 units accepted a charge normally, but did not work. I messaged the seller via Amazon and got an immediate reply. Retevis sent me a replacement within 48 hours. The agent, Angela, was extremely responsive. As well, she answered several questions and made helpful suggestions. I could not have asked for better customer service!The devices are also excellent; clear, audible sound with zero static or interference. A very useful feature is the keyboard 'lock' feature, since it is fairly easy to inadvertently change the channel by contact with anything you happen to push your chest against. I haven't yet enough experience to assess battery life, but they do last all day after I charge them all night. I am a bit concerned as to whether leaving them charge all night - as opposed to leaving them plugged in just long enough to charge, then unplugging them - could decrease battery life. The size and weight make these walkie-talkies very convenient and unobtrusive. I may try to fashion some lightweight cushion, case or bumpers, as they tend to swing on the lanyard and I fear I may damage them. I will add more to this review with more experience. I am very happy and impressed so far.25 months later: Still working perfectly - all three of them!29 months later - after heavy use: spoken message says “replace battery”. I opened it up, easily by unscrewing small Philips head screw, and found the battery is soldered in place. Since two of ours are still working, I will wait and replace them with new ones rather than try to find and solder in a new battery. It may be worth noting that I leave them on charge overnight while turned ‘on’. They beep when you power them on or off and this would awaken my wife. Maybe battery lifetime would be extended with shorter charging, but for me, that wasn’t practicable.

Me gustó que es ligero pero el botón de bloqueo no funciona en ninguno de los 3 no bloquea las teclas. Tiene buena recepción. Y se oye muy clara la voz.

En una casa de 2 pisos es fácil comunicarse sin gritar. Uno vino mal les mandar un mensaje al proveedor. Dijeron que llegaría en 25 días y llegó en 10 días y funciona muy bien. Son amables con excelente servicio postventa.
