This gate is perfect for keeping our puppy from climbing the stairs but the screws that come with it are very cheap, likely aluminum. The first one broke as we were installing the plastic locking mechanism necessitating our having to remove it using pliers. The screw continued to bend as we were unscrewing it. Easily remedied by purchasing better screws from the hardware store but should not have had to do so.

This is a wonderful safety gate! A Lil difficult to assemble but worth the time. It's very sturdy and secure. My grandchildren can't open it ( as long as they never see how I open it) and there's no way for it to fall or open itself. I put it in between my kitchen and living room and it works perfectly. And with it being extra tall gives the add piece of mind the children can't climb over it.

the gate is perfect but the hardware is not. i ended up configuring my own design with the gates and they work perfect. kinda pricey since i only used the gates itself and had to design my own way to hang them. cheap plastic hardware. I would say to look for gates alone, at a cheaper price and make up your own design to hand them

Managed to get it installed, it works. That's the only positive. Requires two hands to open, one to lift gate, the other to lift the latch. If not lifted near the hinge, it binds (badly) while the latch is on the other end. Awkward two hand operation. This is likely why so many complain of cracked and broken hinge pieces. Too much attention required to simply open a gate.The Instructions demand no more than 1 star! Very poor. tiny print and drawings making it worse. Confusing and badly organized. If you follow instructions and use the templates, unless your walls (opening) is perfectly plumb, you can easily end up removing the latch end and reinstalling with more holes in your walls. First mount the hinges, and (after seeing on YouTube how it's supposed to work) then line up the latch bracket properly.Apparently the manufacturer is paying attention to review as parts are included to install so it can open either toward or away from you, BUT THE INSTRUCTIONS DON'T MENTION IT! So you get to figure out for yourself how to use (or not use) those parts. Watching YouTube videos do help, though some are as bad as the instructions.I'm a proverbial handyman and just installed this gate after three hours work. I'm waiting for my wife to come home and tell me to uninstall and send it back because of the awkward and loud operation.Edit 12/9/23: Same 3-star rating, but three more positives. It does look good, installation to hinge on the left is a good option and it can be installed without the latches. This last leaves a free-hanging gate that will open silently at a touch. BUT -- the screw holes for the four latch-side pieces don't match up, so more holes were needed.Some thoughts -- the two hinge pieces must be in-line vertically to prevent the binding which may cause difficulty lifting the gate and lead to cracking the plastic hinge socket. First use the template to position the hinge sockets, but fasten securely with only the top screw. Place the assembled gate in the sockets and adjust the sockets to lift the gate in and out to ensure there is no binding. THEN drill and set the lower screw. Finally, line up and install the latch-side supports (if using). We also added a 1/2" piece of self-adhesive foam weather-stripping to the door jamb to quiet the close.
