My first Red Devil scrapers were pass alongs from my Father's estate. I wore them out and replaced the blades several times doing windows on our houses in New Orleans. I've since regrouted windows in our house in Tennessee twenty five years ago, and it's time to do it again. I was delighted to find that the excellent designs hadn't changed, and replacement blades were still available for that time when I sharpen the blades down to unusable.

Worked great for scraping polyurethane off of my oak ledges throughout our house. We change the color of our wood floors and baseboards to a darker color and wanted the oak ledges to match. I thought about new boards and stripping liquids and a buddy told me about scraping. Are used a larger scraper for the main exposed areas and use these smaller ones for the corners and edges. We literally had 40 feet of 8 inch oak would scrape down to the wood in about an hour and a half! There’s no smell like there would be with chemicals, no loud noise from aggressive sanding power tools and there’s very little dust because the polyurethane comes off in flakes. I followed up with a mouse sander with a vacuum attachment to get it to bare wood and that went as quick as the scraping because it easily removed the thin layer of stain remaining. Hands-down this is the best method for removing varnish, polyurethane, etc. when finishing furniture or old boards.

I've been using a scraper like this for 20 years for metal working. Decided to buy a new one to have on each bench.
