I have been reloading for over 50 years and these decap rods by RCBS and others have improved over the years. Many older style decap rods either bent or the pins broke. Back then you had no choice as those pins were secured in a split threaded rod and the pin was held by a screw-in knurled button.You could put a headed pin in them but more than likely the pin would wobble. Currently these decap rods will not use the old style pins but do use these great headed type pins. Other manufacturers have gone this same way, or have replaceable decap pin-rods in one piece that can be replaced.

Bought this item to replace the original that came with my RCBS 9 mm resizing die. It was damaged completely due to me not remembering how to remove it properly for cleaning. The new RCBS decapping unit short-pistol arrived at the specified time and more importantly fits and works properly as described. In retrospect I should have bought an extra, even though the original lasted 30 years.

Somehow my decapping rod got bent while loading some 10mm. I was able to get it pretty straight with pliers, but I decided to buy a backup. This is identical to the one that came out of my original die, but it's straight. In short, it's an exact replacement.
