I'm very happy with this external battery pack.It works perfectly with my SB-5000 speedlights and Olight Ni-MH AA rechargeable batteries. When fully loaded with 8 cells, I get about 3X the number of flashes as on internal cells alone.Cycle time is about the same as when using internal cells or my Godox Propac / Flashpoint Blast.I wish there was a meter on the battery pack to indicate charge level.This is a good alternative if you need extended power at a budget price, especially if you already have the AA cells on hand.

This well-designed and impeccably built external battery pack from QILESHI was designed specifically for NIKON cameras and their SB5000, SB 910 and SB 900 professional flash units. Adding this external pack to your NIKON flash unit gives you ONE SECOND recycle times for FULL POWER flashes and even faster recycling for TTL or preset flash durations below FULL power.The external flash is designed to operate using FOUR or EIGHT AA batteries in the external battery pack. Using all eight batteries in the external pack gives you the fastest recycling AND the greatest number of flashes. The reported number for a full complement of eight batteries is 580 FULL POWER flashes. This number will increase if TTL or presets below full power are used.It is important to note that the four AA batteries in the flash MUST be installed to power the electronics, LED displays, and digital connection to the camera.The 1-second or less recycle time is welcome when I am shooting in event spaces and need to capture moments as they are happening. The ability to generate up to 580 full-power flash images without worrying about battery life is super convenient.The flexible recharge and recycle design is another standout feature of this external battery pack. The new internal recharging method was designed for simplicity and efficiency. I noticed that it charges the flash capacitor to a READY state much faster than my older external battery packs. In addition, the stable recharging voltage ensures that my flash performs consistently, giving me peace of mind during ONE CHANCE events.The ONE caveat associated with this external battery pack is the same as for any other battery pack…HEAT. If you shoot a CONTINUOUS series of FULL-POWER flashes your flash will SHUT ITSELF DOWN to cool off. You can avoid this by using TTL or flash durations lower than FULL.This QILESHI external battery pack has certainly proven itself to be efficient at managing the recycle to discharge sequence as well as retaining the energy to output consistent flash color, duration, and intensity. It has added to the usability and versatility of my existing Nikon flashes and improves their already excellent performance.
