I built a low temperature oven to cure epoxy paint at the manufacture's recommended heat of 176F. It is doing that. The temperature ramps up to 178 and then the controller (ASIN: B0BXCRGXZZ) turns off the heater. At 174 it turns it back on and thus maintains the temperature. I connected a watt meter to the heater and the highest number I saw was a little over 1300 watts. So even though this is rated at 1500, you are not going to see that. The way these things work (PTC heaters) is that as the temperature goes up then so does the resistance and that resistance lowers the wattage. To get my oven of 3.16 cubic ft to heat all the way to 176, I needed to refeed some of the hot air back into the heater. Recirculating all the hot air overheats the heater so I had to vent about half the air going in to the outside. The other half I sent back with the cold air coming in. I built the oven with thin stick-on aluminized insulation. I used metal 4" dust collection gates to moderate the flow of air. Time will tell how long this system will last. I'll be running some tests to see if it can go the full two hours I need it to later today.

Bought this quickly scanning through options. I liked how this one came with a fan. I sorta wish the fan had its own seperate wires, as I ended up cutting on - making it so the fan stays running. I used this with a digital themalstat, which allowed me to heatup a sealed metal chamber. Quickly raised the temp in the chamber to 130F. Thanks to modifying the fan to always stay on while the heating elements were controlled, it successfully made a dry, hot air chamber. Woo!Looks to have a 90C thermal cutoff switch built into it.The whole unit worked with 120VAC input.According to a kw/h meter, this unit was drawing 700W when first turned on. As the heater warms up, it dropped to about 540W after like 30 seconds. So, overall pretty happy!
