I have been installing fiber optics cables in my house with LC terminals.I needed to test them before I installed it. This tester is moduler and comes with an accessory to test LC terminated cables. Worked really wellHighly recommended!

If you know what this is, and you need one, this will do that job admirably. We have switched to 12 strand MPO trunks for our remote relay switch interlinks. Our purchasing department however can't seem to consistently order the same cables though, and they are not marked on the cables if they are A or B style. This tester, in conjunction with a visual fault finder, makes it much easier to figure out which of the 12 fibers you are connecting to as well as if the connection is clean and will work properly. Not super well constructed, you'll need to treat it gently, and I wouldn't necessarily trust it's accuracy, but I don't have any complaints considering it costs a fraction of what a name brand tester would.

This is a basic optical power meter that should meet the needs of casual users. It supports all the functions described in the listing and looks exactly like the pictures.The tiny instructions are little unclear on some functions, but between them and a little experimentation, most shouldn’t have any trouble using it. There are also online videos that explain how these types of devices are used in general term. Most all of these lower end fiber power meters work very similarly.The listing says that "It can store up to 500 sets of data and can be viewed at any time". I didn't see any information in the instructions about data storage, and expect this is an error in the listing.I don’t have a calibrated optical source to verify the absolute readings, but there is a calibration procedure to adjust it if one has the right equipment.I tested it by connecting it to a 850um source through a short OM3-LC cable after setting the wavelength using the button marked with the Greek symbol lambda. The values I saw seemed reasonable, and I’m most likely to use in the relative mode anyway.The VFL worked as expected.It would have been nice if all the adapters had dust covers, but it’s not unusual on these devices for that not to be the case. I liked that the LC adapter firmly connect to the meter instead of just sitting on the ferrule as is the case with many of these. I also liked that it has a back-light, I’ve found that surprisingly useful.
