This is a solid machine which replaces an nearly identical Craftsman unit I used for a decade or so. All the issues I had with my old sander have been solved by this manufacturer. Improvements include: Easy access to the belt for changing, I can swap belts in less than a minute compared to 15min before; the table is larger and the tilt angle adjustment is very sturdy compared to previous; the belt has a simple clamp arrangement to allow infinite positioning from 99 degrees to flat; best of all the table can be moved from the disk to the belt, I’ve only seen this feature on much more expensive units. The dust collection works very well and the unit runs smoothly with little runout.

Have used about 5-6 hours thus far/ It is a simple machine, it does one thing, sands, and it does so well. I unboxed, attached the adjustable table and went to work. From the start the belt was riding on the wheels true which was a relief as I have had other belt sanders that needed adjustment out of the box. It works well on solid oak, also on birch plywood. I also used to sharpen up my wood chisel set. Very very happen so far - well worth the price.

I've been very surprised at the quality of the sander. The design is actually the same as about a dozen others in the market and it is clear that the same factory is producing many for different retailers. This one was the least expensive of all those different brands. It's pretty quiet for such a powerful sander. The belt and disc it comes with are of average to below average quality but will get the job done to get started with. Get some Ceramic alumina paper for the best longest lasting type and it is aggressive on wood removal. The angle tray on the side can come loose fairly easily so check often as you sand.Vacuum hose works pretty good for the belt sander but is pretty well useless on the disc sander.

Arrived with a cracked motor cover, then strated smoking and blew my electric as soon as it was turned on.Disappointed is an understatement, i look forward to getting this rectified.

I replaced a much more expensive and much larger sander that had a seized bearing with this one . Thought I would use this little machine until the old one was fixed. To my surprise this little Powertec sander works much better than my old one. It is quieter, runs smoother, takes up a lot less space and the dust shoot allows me to connect it to my shop vacuum to reduce the dust. The dust shoot could me a little larger to catch even more of the dust and I will likely find a way to enlarge it myself. Overall, this is a great little sander and VERY good value for the price.Anyone want to purchase my used large sander at a very low price?
