As a basic set for a beginner I believe they do the job. As a person with small hands, who struggles with the large needles, these are very lightweight. Some things to know:- The shanks are 10.5cm long, for small hands I believe they're easy to get used to but if you have big hands maybe try a bit longer shanks. The coloured version is longer but I am not a fun of coloured needles as I have to be more careful with the yarn colour I choose.- No instructions at all. It can be confusing if you haven't used cable needles before. Anyways you screw the cables into the shanks. Same with the connector and stopper. I have no idea what the stopper does but I will look online.- The needle size is engraved and I had to use a magnifying glass to read the size of the thinner needles. If it was engraved in different colour it would be much easier to read. I will keep the needles in the original packaging so I wrote the sizes on the inside cardstock as a reminder.The engraving in a different colour and some basic instructions for the beginner would make a huge difference.
