I have a new Mac Mini M4 Pro that has USB 3 (10Gbps) front connectors and Thunderbolt 5 / USB4 connections (up to 120Gbps) rear connectors. I also have a WD_BLACK 4TB SN850X NVMe Internal SSD Gen4 PCIe M.2 2280 WDS400T2X0E (ASIN B0B7CQ2CHH) in a ASUS ROG STRIX Arion Aluminum Alloy M.2 NVMe SSD External Portable Enclosure Case USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (10 Gbps) (ASIN B07ZKB4SLK) that I use for Time Machine backups for my two Mac Minis and my MacBook Air. I was curious about the speed of the USB4/Thunderbolt connections on my Mac Mini M4 Pro and got this Plugable Thunderbolt 5 Cable with 80Gbps and 240W Charging, Thunderbolt Certified, Up to 120Gbps Bandwidth Boost, Compatible with Thunderbolt 4/3, USB4, USB C 3.3ft cable to see if I would see any speed difference between using the front vs rear USB C ports. From the preceding specs, I think you'll see that I'm limited by the NVMe SSD enclosure and sure enough, I found that the performance between front and rear USB C connections was the same. Disappointing, but that's what I expected. I'll be looking for a faster external SSD enclosure and that's when I'll be really testing this cable. But for now, I'm pleased that it works as a very fast USB C cable, and I'm looking forward to truly testing it in USB 4 and Thunderbolt 4/5 setups. Perhaps for a new monitor I'm looking at! For now, I still give this 5 stars for the potential this cable has for blazing fast speeds!

I ordered the Plugable Thunderbolt 5 cable to connect my SSD, and it completely resolved the issues I was experiencing with my original cable. My previous cable had frequent disconnects, reconnections, and slow performance, but after switching to this one, everything works flawlessly.Performance & Build Quality🚀 Faster Speeds Compared to another high-quality cable I had, this one improved transfer speeds by 50-100MB/s. This shows how well-engineered it is for high-speed data transfer.🛡️ Superior Shielding – High-speed cables require precise shielding to prevent signal loss, and this one delivers. Poor shielding is often the cause of unstable connections, but this cable maintains perfect signal integrity.🔌 Premium Connectors – I took macro shots of the cable's gold-plated contacts, and they are high quality. The connection to my chargers and SSD is tight and secure, unlike my previous problematic cable.Features & Capabilities✅ Supports Multiple High-Resolution Displays:Up to 3x 4K @ 144HzDual 8K displaysExternal GPUs⚡ Handles High-Power Charging Supports up to 240W (48V @ 5A). I successfully tested 100W (20V @ 5A), which stresses the cable the same way as 240W (since both use 5A of current at different voltages). The cable handled it perfectly, with no excessive heat buildup.🔗 120Gbps Bandwidth Boost – While I couldn't test this personally, Plugable claims up to 120Gbps, which is ideal for extreme data transfer needs.Final Thoughts✅ Pros:✔️ Fixed SSD connection issues – No more disconnects or slow speeds.✔️ Faster data transfers 50-80MB/s improvement over a high-quality alternative.✔️ Top-tier shielding – Prevents signal loss for stable performance.✔️ High-power charging support – Up to 240W for laptops, docking stations, and more.✔️ Premium build quality – Gold-plated contacts and a secure, tight fit.❌ Cons:✖️ Pricey – But worth it for reliability and performance.Verdict💯 If you need a high-quality, high-speed, and well-shielded Thunderbolt 5 cable, this is absolutely worth the price. It eliminated my SSD connection issues, improved transfer speeds, and supports cutting-edge display and charging capabilities. Highly recommended!

I'm always on the lookout for a good Thunderbolt cable at a reasonable price so when I ran across this Plugable Thunderbolt 5 Cable, I grabbed it. Sadly, some of the cables and hubs I've run across have advertised themselves as Thunderbolt, but were really just USB-C. This Plugable is a real Thunderbolt cable. The Plugable is solidly-built and feels like my other high-quality Thunderbolt cables. There's some strain relief where the cable exits the connector which I like. Length of the cable is ~3 feet which is pretty much standard for Thunderbolt cables.I don't have a 100% way to test the manufacturer's claims of speed and power, but my Mac does recognize this as a Thunderbolt cable and is connecting to my peripherals as Thunderbolt 4 (my current Mac only supports TB4) as listed in the system report with a 40GB transfer speed. My RAIDs are self-powered so I could only test the power delivery of the cable by plugging in my MacBook and seeing if it'll go into charging mode - which it did.Overall, I'm pleased with the Plugable Thunderbolt 5 Cable and am happy to have it in my arsenal for when I eventually make a move to Thunderbolt 5.

So far it's taking ever to throwing out it and just sat there smiling and doing exactly what it should no I have not have I don't have anything here that'll push if you're a full 240 W by itself but it did handle multiple things through a hub speedwise it's handle everything beautifully it'll keep up with everything else I've got in hand and I have zero complaints in that regardThat's it getting it on sale would be nice because it is not particularly cheapOnce again note this is done with voice to text so the necessity so please excuse typos words that are wrong Etc even editing for correction that is a real pain to do right now and typing normally it's impossible

So far this thunderbolt USBC cable has proven to be very reliable.I appreciate the labeling on the cable. There's 2 different labels. One is a paper sticker label that has a lot of details. the other label is a number 5 printed on the connector. I'd prefer it to say TB5 instead of 5 or list the power capacity on the print, but that's just getting nitpicky.I don't have anything with Thunderbolt 5 requirements, so I am unable to test for that, but this was able to support everything that I did use it for (both data and power). So it meets my needs. I've seen others reporting that they did test it thoroughly and it passed those tests.
