These screws were too big for the holes that connect the plate to the thermostat back. I had to use screws from a different kit I bought and those weren’t long enough… the thermostat had to be installed with these hot summer days upon us…

when assembling, it would be assumed that the plate edges would taper towards the wall and sit flush but the instructions actually instruct to have the plate taper forwards, away from the wall which is strange. If you reverse the plate, the screw heads will collide with the plate and prevent it from sitting flush. And the plastic imprints would be facing forward. Bottom line, this plate is functional but doesn't look right.
