2 device switch: this switch exceeds expectations!I expected 4K passthrough, various surround formats passthrough, and so on, but what I did not expect from the product page but HOPED for, is that this unit will run off of the HDMI +5v line and not require USB power. I am very, very happy with this switch and use it to switch between my PC and Roku to a soundbar and one of my monitors. 5 stars all the way. :)

Build quality is really nice and I was impressed with it when I opened the package — nice smooth metal and a satisfying, easy to use button. And the device is powered by USB Type-C, something modern! However, the positives end there. For PS5, the console would no longer recognize that it supported 120 Hz VRR, and for Xbox Series X, at first the image was being output as 640x480, with no option to change it, and then it stopped working for that device/input altogether. This is supposed to be an HDMI 2.1 switch but it seems it doesn't actually support what it says it does. Connections are unreliable and ultimately you'd be better off with the Monoprice Blackbird at roughly this same price point. I thought Philips was a good name brand to buy, but apparently not in this case. Don't buy.

My setup consists of an AppleTV and DVD player feeding signal to a common HDMI port on my AV receiver.I replaced an old and increasingly quirky HDMI auto-switch with this Philips manual switch and simultaneously upgraded to skinny, flexible high-speed HDMI cables. This is an excellent product, marginally hampered by the tradeoffs of its small size and almost zero weight.Operationally it's proven to be 100% reliable, delivering top-notch video and sound quality. To maximise installation freedom, you will likely want to replace heavy and stiff braided HDMI cables with skinny, ultra lightweight/flexible types (many choices on Amazon, three needed, with, in my case, 18" cables costing about $6-8 ea.).You do have to press the selector button to switch from one input source to the other. But this minor inconvenience is the small price one pays for 100% active switching independent of signal source or content.Tiny blue LEDs show which input port is active. In my system, placement of the switch behind equipment means accessing the switch button is blind and also renders the LEDs invisible and of no value. The flexible cables were essential in permitting mounting the module on an equipment shelf with a small patch of double-sided tape. This makes it easier to locate and operate the button while reducing the risk of inadvertently fumbling and dislodging one of the HDMI connectors.

I needed a HDMI switch/splitter so I can switch between my laptop and my desktop easily while being connected to the same monitor. I didn't want to have to switch HDMI cables each time I wanted to switch so this device was my solution. It works easily, and so far the resolution and ease of use is perfect!

My family has an LG G2 4K UHD TV mounted flush to the wall. Prior to introduction, I ran a cable for a peripheral in a console below for my Xbox. Well, recently my family got a Nintendo Switch. So now I have a problem and I was hoping this was the solution. When it arrived, I said everything up and was excited at my annuity. Unfortunately, that excitement was short-lived. The Nintendo Switch worked fine and the picture quality was unchanged. The same could not be said for the Xbox. As it turns out, the 4K UHD output from the Xbox was not supported, causing the image to flicker constantly and randomly. This was driving me nuts. I was able to resolve it by reducing the output, image quality, however, the point of owning a TV that supports 4K UHD is to enjoy that same quality when consuming content. In the end, I decided to return the splitter and fish another HDMI cable through the wall. It was definitely the harder route, but insured I had the highest quality, pitcher and experience.Would I recommend this to a friend? Maybe. I say that because it would depend on the equipment and if that individual cared about having reduced quality for convenience or the best experience possible.
