I'm using this with Hill's Science Diet Oral, which is the right size (just at the max). When testing, I realized that the portion sizes vary significantly every time. This morning, it didn't dispense food at all. My cat is always upset and hungry, I had to go back to measuring it out and feeding him myself. Was hoping this would be a good solution for early morning feedings or when we go away for 1 or 2 days, but I definitely will not be using it.It's also expensive and there's no way to return it...

Got this for our cat due to the fact she would beg for food from us very regularly. She still does somewhat, but she understands she's not getting food from us. She more so waits around and books it to the feeder when she hears the food "splash" into the bowl. It works well, and hasn't had any jam ups. We only feed a single portion 4 times a day, setting the portion size and time was very simple. We did measure a portion size roughly, and it seems like it's around 14ml or so. I can't imagine it's going to be flawlessly 15ml every time, but neither is a human scooping food.

I was going back and forth between buying a smart feeder I could control with an app or keeping it simple and getting one that had onboard controls only. I ended up going with this one, and now I wish I would've gone with a smart app-controlled feeder.The unit is well-built and works as advertised. But setting up and modifying feeding times is cumbersome. The controls are too low, the marks on the buttons are hard to see. And once you go into the editing mode, it's slow and clunky. Going through each feeding time to edit them is a hassle. Also, a downside I didn't consider is that maybe I want to change feeding times for any reason, and if I didn't memorize what the times were, it's not very simple to check which times are set.Another very specific downside for me but that might be worth mentioning, is that it's not very comfortable for my cat to eat out of the bowl, because of its depth and especially because of how close it is to the machine itself. Cats are delicate in that sense and I would've preferred a design in which a little more space was allowed for the cat to eat comfortably.A final nitpick is that the supply level indicator light is always on and it's very bright. I have to have this in my bedroom and it lights up the whole room at night. Would've been nice to have the option to turn it off.Pros:- Works as advertised, feeds precisely on the clock- Up to 6 meals per day- Solidly built- Holds a huge amount of kibbleCons:- Cumbersome to operate- Bowl is uncomfortable for cats
