I love the warmth of coated heads and the attack of clear. These are the best of both worlds. I loved them so much I put them on my toms also.

The Evans EC2 head I was using wasnt cutting it. Im sure they have their uses but they just dont suit a shallow 18in bass drum. My research led me to the EQ3 and the EMAD. After some consideration I chose the EQ3 and Im glad I did. My little 18x10 bass drum sounds punchy, full, and something you may even confuse with being a larger diameter. I paired it with a matching eq3 resonant head (no port hole) and the results have been nothing short of shocking, in a good way.Also, I quickly tuned up the batter with out being too precise and the sound was still huge and I also had no dampening on or in the drum at the time. It might need a little, but not much. This combination of heads is on point.

Great buy, transformed the sound of my 18" Natal bass drum. Much more punchy now, loud and rock now. Looks great.
