i have a 5000 series vitamix...well used. This blender unit is absolutely the best (better even that vm). Very quite (must be good bearings), very sharp (blends almonds into milk with VERY little pulp left. Only downside is it takes a special wrench to remove the blade unit, but removing that blade tended to ruin every container i ever owned.

I ended up returning this. It seemed to be well made and my initial try making a smoothie with strawberries went ok. But when I tried using the Vitamix recipie for applesauce it failed miserably. I think the issue is the lower set of blades (which the Vitamix does not have). The apples got totally jammed up and I had to carefully dig them out. Put them in my original large Vitamix container and it processed without a hitch.

I purchased this and it works well with my Vitamix. It is not the best quality but it does work well and fits nicely. good value for the price.

I use my Vitamix almost daily for smoothies, and have been considering buying a dedicated dry-grains container as I have recently decided to grind a few special grains at home. I know that the blades of a dry blender are different from a wet blender. However, if you search online, public opinion is divided and there are many people out there who - because they do not grind a huge amount of grains (that would be me too) - simply use their usual blender for both the purposes. Hence my hesitation for the huge investment into a second jar.At the same time, I also did not end up grinding the grains, after all, in my Vitamix smoothies blender as the grains tend to dull and scratch the appearance of the jar. I did not want to ruin my blender's blades or esthetics! When I saw this jar, I thought it would make a good dedicated jar for grinding the grains.It is great for the price. The lid is tight fitting - slightly difficult to put on, but not a huge 'struggle' at all! I don't have to grind a lot of grains, but whatever I grind - comes out nice and well and I am happy with the outcome. I don't even sift for a second round of grinding (I guess, I belong to the 'slightly coarse grinding' group), and my recipe is none the worse for it either. I like this low profile jar as it takes up lesser space!

I have used my Vitamix Blender every day for at least 20 years before I ordered a new container. What a difference! It's so dependable I never thought that the blades might be dulling. Well, they're sharp now.
