Most important: the instructions say this battery is to be charged only via the USB-C port, not in the regular charger for this type of batteries, one that uses the bottom terminals. Not sure why, I have other such batteries that can be charged either way. This one is particular, I have to keep in mind not to toss it in the multi-bay charger when I have several depleted batteries to charge. The real nice thing is the display of the charge level at the touch of a finger on this battery: someone heard my complain about these batteries being hard on my organizing skills, as I carry a few of them with me and end up mixing up the charged ones and depleted ones. This battery has a four levels display that lights up when you touch the marked round spot on its back. The LEDs light up for as long as you keep the finger on the dot and go off the instant you remove the finger. Great sensitivity of the capacitive, soft touch button, and clear display via the four LEDs. The battery arrived charged at 25% and it took about 45 minutes to reach 100% charge. As for the functionality, this battery does fit well and works the same as the original ones in cameras that use the LP-E6 series – I tested in two different types of Canon cameras. Very good capacity, though I cannot really tell if the stated 2,600mAh is true or not: my original batteries have seen hundreds of recharging cycles, so the comparison with this brand new battery would be unfair, this new one definitely has more juice. The instructions are thorough and do provide the battery specifications, plus a certificate of conformance – pretty rigorous technical instructions, short and to the point. Though the English could use a bit of spelling check: they tell you should not throw away this battery “in a yre” – is that “ire”? Like, throw this away only when you calmed down and regained your cool? I guess they meant “fire”.There is a 24 months warranty stated in the instructions, and a direct contact email for the manufacturer is provided. In summary, the only downside to this battery is the limitation on charging only through the USB-C. Makes it prone to mishaps as I come home with a bunch of depleted batteries. Also, prevents me from using a charge / discharge tester for this type of batteries, as it relies on the standard port for charging. Not enough of a drawback to subtract stars from my rating, though.

Battery is seen by my R5 II as a LP-E6P with no limitations on functionality. Case seems to be the proper size with no hangups when inserting into the camera. My biggest concern with this battery is that it states in the instructions to insert the USB cable to charge it and not to use other types of chargers or it may "rupture or explode". Since the R5 II and most other R series cameras will start charging the battery when connected to USB-C and powered off, I'm wondering if it's even safe to use this as you would a normal LP-E6P. It's likely that they put the warning on for liability reasons but it does state in two places not to use other chargers. I don't want to have to remember which battery I'm using or to check each time before plugging my camera in. On the plus side the battery has a two color case which makes it easy to identify. It did not include the safety cover whuch I always install when storing so that's a negative for me. The batteries like the NP-F550 with USB-C charging are very handy to have and I thought I'd like to have that convenience in a Canon LP battery but the NP batteries aren't installed in anything that would charge them so I never considered that as a possible issue. Nowhere can I find anything that suggests it safe to charge with anything other than the USB-C port. Because of the charging concern I think I will keep this as an in the field emergency battery and not have it in my everyday rotation of batteries. I feel it's slightly pricey due to the limitations.

Before I get into my experience with this battery a bit about how I used it for context and color. I ordered this especially for my R5 Mark II for which the LP-E6P variation was developed. This variation of the E6 battery is required to enable some functions of this body, including pre-shooting and advanced video capture. I mostly photograph birds, especially birds in flight and took my R5 Mark II with this battery on a few hours-long walks in wildlife refuges.I have my camera power saving is set to dim the EVF after a minute of non-use and put the camera to sleep. Shooting is set to CRAW, 15FPS & pre-shooting on. When I’m looking for birds the camera is always set to “on” but sleeping. Once I find a bird I could focus on it for several minutes with the EVF active, waiting for the right moment to press the shutter. Then bursts of shooting. Also factor in some activation of pre-shooting. I do not use the LCD and have it flipped inward. During a typical shoot I take between 800 and 1200 frames. Now that you loosely understand the conditions this battery was “tested,” my conclusion is it’s ¾ of a genuine E6P at ½ the price. In the R5 Mark II, a genuine OEM “P” battery typically lasts me three hours in the above scenario. With this generic battery I got about 2 hours, 20 min from the time I flick the camera on to the time I got the blinking red battery icon. Typically, generic batteries never compete 1:1 with OEM. That’s why they are significantly less expensive. No difference here. The R5 Mark II recognizes it as a “P” battery and allows pre-shooting. I don’t shoot video so did not test that aspect. But, honestly, I don’t think this would be a useful battery for video only based on my experience with its less-than-OEM longevity shooting photos. But, technically, at least, this battery can legitimately be called LP-E6P compatible. One small advantage this battery has over the OEM is it can charge with a USB-C cable with any USB-C cable. It can also charge in a LP-6 battery charger or in the R5 Mark II body. Personally, I use the OEM LP-6 charger at home and a 3rd party two-battery LP-6 charger when travelling. This generic battery had no problem charging no matter what method was used or brand charger used. This generic battery has a 4-stage % battery life indicator on the front that is activate with a button. In my experience the indicator is accurate but be aware it rounds up. So, if the actual power remaining is, say, 40% it reports 50%. If there is 2% left it shows 25%. On the other hand, both my R5 Mark II and 3rd party charger which has a digital power remaining indicator, do show the “exact” life left. Where the built-in power meter is useful, though, is to find out if the battery is mostly charged or not so you don’t mistakenly install a mostly used battery. I wish the Canon OEM batteries had a “charged” indicator on them, so I don’t want to knock this indicator too much. It is nice to have. That’s my report on this battery. Depending on how you use your camera it may or may not be a satisfying purchase, but don’t expect OEM battery performance here.

This worked exactly like I would expect a 3rd party LP-E6 battery to, I popped it into my Canon bodies and the battery was recognized instantly. Charging via my Canon LC-E6 worked, as well as in my various 3rd-party LP-E6 battery chargers, and USB-C charging worked flawlessly -- I used my battery bank, and also tried via some wall chargers. The capacity seems fine, I haven't done extensive shooting with this particular battery yet by I haven't noticed anything odd in my use, it functions like any of the other batteries I own.I would happily recommend this battery to others!
