I have a child who is autistic and thrives on pictures for instruction - so we use this at home for a chore chart for her and her sister. (ADVICE: LAMINATE THE CARDS AND THEY WILL LAST LONGER)It works pretty good - the girls are usually cooperative with it.In addition to this we have a "pot of gold" that we bought at the local party supply store for St Paddy's day - a pot shaped bucket for each of them and one larger one to hold the coins - and some plastic gold coins - they get one gold coin for every chore they complete.Some of our coins also have green ones - if they get a green one they get a free pass on a chore.If they bicker or don't do their chores, they find that leprechauns will make off with their gold coins.At the end of the week they can turn in their gold coins for a new DVD or items from "The Mom Store" - which is a big storage container filled with items from the local $1 shop or other items for rewards) or for a special treat like cookies or something.This is a terrific and fun behavior modification tool - I highly recommend to others. I bought this after seeing a review somewhere that also had instructions and very cute printouts of chores, reward tickets, and "BEEhavior" tickets. Having tried so many other "chore charts", this one takes the cake! It really puts the responsibility on the child not only to do the task, but to also keep track of their rewards. It has taken away a lot of my repeated requested (sic yelling) for the kids to do their chores. Now I just direct them to check the specific day/time for what needs to be done before going to bed, and once they wake up in the morning. I am not using the cards that came with the chart, but possibly will use them in the future. Along the top, instead of "How Is Your Day?", I have M/T/W/TH/F, each in a different color. Down the left side, the first two spaces are for my son (age 10), morning tasks then evening tasks. Below that on the third & fourth spaces are for my daughter (age 7) morning tasks then evening tasks. Along the bottom are the reward tickets which correspond in color to the day of the week. Each ticket is worth one point. Once they have reached 10 points, we exchange them for a PINK ticket which is in the bottom left corner. Down the right side are the pockets for the reward tickets for the week, plus any special "BEE" tickets. If the kids get 100 tickets (doesn't matter if it takes two weeks to get there), they get to go out with mom or dad for ice cream. If they reach 200 tickets (they can make the choice not to redeem the first 100 tickets), then they get to go for out for dinner or get a small toy. We have been using it for a month now and have been out for ice cream twice and given out one small lego kit. It's working!!
