We bought a house built in 1997 that had 7 pairs of speakers in the ceiling, in 7 different rooms. each room has a volume control knob, but nothing else. We were able to trace the wiring, and use this selector switch to turn on/off selected pairs of speakers without worrying about impedance issues on the stereo amplifier. A far cry from today's WiFi controlled setups, but worked for what was already in place at a reasonable price.

I am very happy with this purchase. After about a decade, my ATM -7 began to fail. Just recently I purchased a new Integra amplifier and was concerned about impedance issues being that I had six pairs of speakers throughout my home. this speaker selector works perfectly. I loved the quick connections on the back, the fact that I don’t have to worry about playing all my speakers all at once and causing damage to my amplifier. Its clean looking…needs no power. The atm-7 had ir remote …. This does not, but dont miss it. At this point, I leave all the volume controls at full and don’t mind that they are notched. The only reason I purchased this product with volume control is to bring the house down and the patio up that adjustment for me does not need to be a smooth volume control. This is a much more professional upgrade for my system. I like it.

Me gustó el diseño esbelto y la posibilidad de tener 2 fuentes de audio seleccionables.

I have a modern receiver that runs my 5.1 setup and an ancient Sony ES series stereo amplifier that I use for playing vinyl. I wanted to use the same front left and right floor speakers with both amplifiers. This device lets me switch between the two amplifiers, sharing a single set of floor speakers. The SSVC1 works perfectly in this scenario. Note that only one amp can drive the speaker pair at a time. The unit does include a rotary ten position volume control but because this is on the output side of the amp its more of an attenuator. For optimum audio quality you should control the volume at the amp so I just keep this on full volume (no attenuation). The only small complaint is that the speaker terminals on the back are a little crowded and a bit too small. Using 14 gauge or large speaker wire is pretty fiddly and takes some time to set up. This configuration results in a surprising amount of wire so its important to really plan this out in advance if you intend to build a two amp system. All in all a very good device that does what it says it does without any discernible loss of audio quality.

Read some reviews stating that the contacts in the back of the unit, were of poor design/quality, but I cannot agree. I had no trouble at all tightening the contact screws, and the unit works flawlessly. Does everything i need it to do, and In fact, I was surprised at the build quality. I was expecting a plastic piece of junk, but rather got a heavy, metal unit, that works!
