I'm quite dissatisfied with the orangpi experience, I cant even get my hands on a system image! lazy cheap bstrds wont pay to host their files, nor will they host them for free on github like a normal person would. super lame. Plus, nobody else hosts the files for the 4gb model. So truly I am stuck unless I want to cook up my own version of linux. if I cant download something within 7 days I'm definitely returning this thing.UPDATE: I managed to find system images for Ubuntu and Android. Android doesn't have networking support so you can't download stuff. But it does offer GPU hardware acceleration in case you do manage to get something in it. Oh, and it's Android TV, not android. Poor display support and more! If you use anything but Android you will not get to use the GPU and even quake 1 runs poorly unless you crank up the clock speed. OPI really needs to remove advertisement for the GPU, it is a paperweight without a driver. I'm returning this thing and fleeing far from the orange pi name.It should be named LEMON Pi!so much for the easy experience they advertised.

Small box, even smaller computer. It came up on serial TTY once I got the RX/TX wires setup right. Works well out of the box, I am using the Debian 12 Bookworm 6.1 kernel server image. Takes a few moments to boot. I noticed load was always 1.0 or higher and found a thread online about wlan drivers chewing up the CPU when you aren't connected via wireless. I only use ethernet so I disabled the two modules sprdwl_ng and cfg80211 by adding "blacklist sprdwl_ng" and "blacklist cfg80211" (one blacklist statement per line) to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and saving the file. Reboot to check out the nearly 0 load average. I use the piHole for both DNS and DHCP and as stated, it does the job admirably. 4gb is overkill but I had a gift card so why not. Make sure you change your sources.list to reflect a mirror of your choice (huawei servers are used by default) and then do apt update and apt upgrade before starting any installations. I placed it in the N502 case made for the OPi Zero 3, with the heatsinks, and the temps went from 118degF to 92degF. From the setup config tool and the updates I've done, this image has docker installed by default, which isn't a big deal but just be aware of it.

Used this single board computer for a Wi-Fi project. OS was Armbian. Small, low power consumption and seems well built.

Bought for a simple little project. Didnt have high hopes as I usually use raspberry pi for these types of things but was blown away by how powerful it was. Ended up using it for a more advance project and works well for that as well.
