I use it for both book support for lap reading and as a computer stand for lap use with the base between my legs, very nice. I only have one concern, over time will the hinges loosen up and not stay in position. there is no way to retighten the hinges. However, it might be that there are springs within the hinges that prevent them from loosening up.

Multipurpose stand and good quality. Worth even though price is on a higher side.

I love it but there were scratches on the metal and a clicking sounds when I move the stand on the sides. I returned it. Would like to try one more time.

I use it mostly for writing at an elevated angle, so it holds a notebook while I write without moving or wobbling. I put pressure on it as I write and it maintains the position.I've used it occasionally for reading heavier books without any issues.I really like that it lays flat for storage/transport.
