Stylish and compact, slightly less optic quality than S-line. My go to day trip/party lense.

I mainly use a 24 -120 f4 zoom but this lens is wickedly fast focus and i credibly sharp. Looks great too!

I bought this lens on sale primarily to have a small light normal lens. The center is sharp even at maximum aperture. The edges of the image are acceptable at the wider apertures and becomes very good to excellent beginning at f4.I have a Nikon 50mm f1.8 Z S line which has incredible sharpness even at maximum aperture. Ironically that level of sharpness results in really clear but arguably somewhat sterile images for certain subjects. The imperfections of the 40mm at the larger apertures injects a bit of softness and character to the outer parts of the image with more pleasant bokeh.All in all this lens is pleasant surprise and a joy to use but I would definitely wait for a sale to buy one.

The Nikon 40mm f2 SE (Special Edition for its retro look) is a great and fun lens to go for street photography.

I think this unit is already open because the lens cap is viltrox logo hahahaha. What is this amazon. I buy original nikon and the lens cap is viltrox?Anyway my 40mm have an issue of back focus. It a bit slow compared to 28mm SE. i have too. Its not razor sharp lens. Much better the 28mm. The only thing good in this lens is the perfect focal lenght. Not much distortion. I prefer the 28mm than 40. And 28mm id much closer to phone focal lenght which is 26
