We have had this for about 2 weeks and it is getting very soft. the plastic canister seems to be breaking down. It is becoming deformed and is losing its shape.

Conjuring up a DIY fuel filtration system has been one of those projects which never seemed to get done. Not any more. This large filer, with loads of sediment and water "storage," is going to overpower that project by a mile. With a few fittings and a short piece of hose, or tubing, that fuel filter project will be up a running. Now, every drop of fuel going into our equipment will be filtered. And, visibly so at that!A sediment bowl is pretty much the gold-standard for fuel filters. I mean, you can check the filter's condition and see any foreign material (and water) which might have collected in the good-sized bowl. For me, that is perfect. The wrench, which is included, appears to be a very necessary tool if the goal is to access the filter without damaging the clear bowl/housing. It fits very tight. A good bit of leverage is required to loosen it.The filter housing is directional with regard to fuel flow. The IN and OUT ports are clearly marked. The housing must be plumbed properly in order for the filter element to operate as designed. Which is for any foreign material to be collected on the outer surface of the element.

This filter comes with everything you need to install it (less the tools), including a large roll of teflon tape and a filter wrench. The fittings into the head of the filter assembly ae 1 inch. The filter did not have any numbers or writing stamped on it, but it looks like a standard fuel filter with a 3/4 inch fitting. I gave it 5 stars - none of the fittings leaked when I got it done, so the teflon did it's job, and it went on easy.I was at a farm supply store today, and this unit was very similar to what was being offered for sale. The replacement filters that were stocked would fit in this unit.
